I took a tour and learned a lot about how farming can be done in a small space. Loved seeing how many things could grow- mushrooms in feed bags, micro greens by the trayful, tilapia in tanks buried with a complex filtering system that provides nutrients to the garden...it's all very interesting. This is a great and inspiring place to visit if you are interested in sustainable issues. also good for children to see how things grow. There are also goats and chickens and worms to see which might hold their attention.

They sell fruits and vegetables, worm castings, apparel, educational material, and many other things. They are using solar power partly and it feeds into the... More

They grew mushrooms (I think shiitake) in huge bags that hung from the ceilings. There was a small animal farm in the back. What is produced on the grounds is sold to locals and to specialty stores/restaurants. Growing Power... More

Visitors get to tour the urban farm and learn about Growing Power's philosophies in action. Several greenhouses which house lettuce, bean sprouts, giant worm composting bins, and an Aquaponic system are featured. One Aquaponic system holds more than 8,000 tilapia fish. The tank's water is pumped up to fertilize watercress and then the filtered water is reused back in the... More
