Description: Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee...
Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee Wisconsin. We hand-craft award winning distilled spirits in limited quantities using old world methods and traditions which we believe result in a superior product. We’re a bit of an anomaly in the spirits business - we actually make our own products! We’re a handful of people devoted to the craft of distilling and creating the best distilled spirits possible. As Wisconsin's first distillery since prohibition we are anxious to share our unique products and look forward to meeting people who appreciate high quality craft distilled spirits. Give us a try and see for yourself how unique these hand crafted spirits can be. We are pleased to be able to open our distillery to the public everyday for tours. During our approximately 1 hour tour, visitors will learn about our award winning products, how & why we make them and receive a flight of five products to try (complimentary soda is available for non-drinkers).

After leaving an awards banquet, we were looking for a place to catch a beverage. Great Lakes Distillery met the bill with a large parking lot, easy access, and nice exterior. Once inside, we were promptly greeted by Brendan, our bartender for the evening. Our two feature drinks were $7 each which is pretty fair for this neighborhood. We also... More

After this particular experience I must say don't waste your time on the tour. Feel free to drink at the bar where the friendly staff will greet you with a smile and the product is good. However, management should rethink their position on how they treat their patrons. Never and let me repeat never have I dealt with such arrogant... More

My husband and I bought two tickets and went on the tour. While the tour was short the tasting was so much fun! We tasted six different liquors. After the tasting we sat at the bar and had a cocktail. What a fun time and the cocktails WERE NOT OVER PRICED!!

Great Lakes is part of the craft distiller movement that's sprung up all over the country in the last few years. Small batches, interesting takes on the classic gin, vodka, brandy, etc. The tour is not really that long. There's only so much that can be said about distillation, and the facility is simple enough - big still, various containers,... More

Its not really a tour, as it is a standing around in a room as you get yelled at for talking with your colleagues. Pros: free shots of liquor. Cons: you better listen to them, as they act like there's a test at the end.

You seem a bit put out by one of my staff asking your group to be quiet. I know what group you were in because asking anyone to be quiet is a rare occurrence. Also one of your bachelor party "colleagues" apologized as you were leaving. The fact is we get hundreds of visitors weekly and they have paid their... More

As soon as we walked in the door and checked in, we were "encouraged" to go to the bar and purchase a drink while we waited for the tour to start. The $7 price is reasonable for the tour and samples but you don't get to keep the glasses. You are offered a $3 discount on one item purchased and... More

The tour at Great Lakes Distillery brings many smiles to the faces of the tourists. You learn how a small distillery business works, see the area where some great 'spirits' come to be made and bottled, and best of all, get a chance to sample several of these local products at a beautiful bar. I've taken many out of town... More

Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job of explaining all the different spirits they make. At the end you get to taste all of their products - about 7 mini shots. The front room has a nice bar and small shop where you can buy anything you tasted. Pretty neat place! I would definitely visit again.

I loved the whiskey so decided to take the tour. Very informative - clearly explaining the distillation process, the difference between different spirits, the reason for aging in barrels, and more. Then we had an opportunity to taste 6 or 7 of their products - again with helpful explanations. I walked in already having purchased the whiskey, and now I'm... More

I love drinking at distilleries, so I had high hopes about Great Lakes. The space is pretty cool. There's one large circular bar and a few couches and faux-leather chairs where you can chill and enjoy your drink. Free popcorn is available to fuel your thirst. Where Great Lakes falls apart is their drink menu. It's the shortest drink menu... More
