Description: Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee...
Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee Wisconsin. We hand-craft award winning distilled spirits in limited quantities using old world methods and traditions which we believe result in a superior product. We’re a bit of an anomaly in the spirits business - we actually make our own products! We’re a handful of people devoted to the craft of distilling and creating the best distilled spirits possible. As Wisconsin's first distillery since prohibition we are anxious to share our unique products and look forward to meeting people who appreciate high quality craft distilled spirits. Give us a try and see for yourself how unique these hand crafted spirits can be. We are pleased to be able to open our distillery to the public everyday for tours. During our approximately 1 hour tour, visitors will learn about our award winning products, how & why we make them and receive a flight of five products to try (complimentary soda is available for non-drinkers).

We did the tour and found it to be informative and reasonably priced with the samples. They craft a variety of spirits that they talk you through and briefly explain their barreling and bottling process. Then you sample. You sample several varieties that they have for sale, and are offered a discount if you decide to purchase-having taken the tour.... More

Located across the street from the Iron Horse Hotel on the 6th and Virginia traffic circle. Functioning distillery with small batch whiskeys, vodka, gin and even absinthe. Pleasant bar and small souvenir store at the entrance. Bar has samples for $1 each and most mixed drinks using their creations are $7. Small snack menu too.

Great Lakes Distillery wasn't on our radar but because it was on our "tourist attraction" way, it became a stopping point. I'm glad we visited. We paid for a 5 p.m. tour and enjoyed one drink at the bar while waiting. One of the bar tenders was the tour guide, as it turned out, and he had been so friendly... More

First, try to go to a tour during the week instead of a weekend. There is room for fifty; we had three in our group and a most entertaining and knowledgeable guide. The tour only lasted about half and hour as this is a very small business, but I learned so many new, interesting things. Of course, the best part... More

After leaving an awards banquet, we were looking for a place to catch a beverage. Great Lakes Distillery met the bill with a large parking lot, easy access, and nice exterior. Once inside, we were promptly greeted by Brendan, our bartender for the evening. Our two feature drinks were $7 each which is pretty fair for this neighborhood. We also... More

After this particular experience I must say don't waste your time on the tour. Feel free to drink at the bar where the friendly staff will greet you with a smile and the product is good. However, management should rethink their position on how they treat their patrons. Never and let me repeat never have I dealt with such arrogant... More

My husband and I bought two tickets and went on the tour. While the tour was short the tasting was so much fun! We tasted six different liquors. After the tasting we sat at the bar and had a cocktail. What a fun time and the cocktails WERE NOT OVER PRICED!!

Great Lakes is part of the craft distiller movement that's sprung up all over the country in the last few years. Small batches, interesting takes on the classic gin, vodka, brandy, etc. The tour is not really that long. There's only so much that can be said about distillation, and the facility is simple enough - big still, various containers,... More

Its not really a tour, as it is a standing around in a room as you get yelled at for talking with your colleagues. Pros: free shots of liquor. Cons: you better listen to them, as they act like there's a test at the end.

You seem a bit put out by one of my staff asking your group to be quiet. I know what group you were in because asking anyone to be quiet is a rare occurrence. Also one of your bachelor party "colleagues" apologized as you were leaving. The fact is we get hundreds of visitors weekly and they have paid their... More
