Description: Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee...
Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee Wisconsin. We hand-craft award winning distilled spirits in limited quantities using old world methods and traditions which we believe result in a superior product. We’re a bit of an anomaly in the spirits business - we actually make our own products! We’re a handful of people devoted to the craft of distilling and creating the best distilled spirits possible. As Wisconsin's first distillery since prohibition we are anxious to share our unique products and look forward to meeting people who appreciate high quality craft distilled spirits. Give us a try and see for yourself how unique these hand crafted spirits can be. We are pleased to be able to open our distillery to the public everyday for tours. During our approximately 1 hour tour, visitors will learn about our award winning products, how & why we make them and receive a flight of five products to try (complimentary soda is available for non-drinkers).

As soon as we walked in the door and checked in, we were "encouraged" to go to the bar and purchase a drink while we waited for the tour to start. The $7 price is reasonable for the tour and samples but you don't get to keep the glasses. You are offered a $3 discount on one item purchased and... More

The tour at Great Lakes Distillery brings many smiles to the faces of the tourists. You learn how a small distillery business works, see the area where some great 'spirits' come to be made and bottled, and best of all, get a chance to sample several of these local products at a beautiful bar. I've taken many out of town... More

Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job of explaining all the different spirits they make. At the end you get to taste all of their products - about 7 mini shots. The front room has a nice bar and small shop where you can buy anything you tasted. Pretty neat place! I would definitely visit again.

I loved the whiskey so decided to take the tour. Very informative - clearly explaining the distillation process, the difference between different spirits, the reason for aging in barrels, and more. Then we had an opportunity to taste 6 or 7 of their products - again with helpful explanations. I walked in already having purchased the whiskey, and now I'm... More

I love drinking at distilleries, so I had high hopes about Great Lakes. The space is pretty cool. There's one large circular bar and a few couches and faux-leather chairs where you can chill and enjoy your drink. Free popcorn is available to fuel your thirst. Where Great Lakes falls apart is their drink menu. It's the shortest drink menu... More

I have been on the tour several times, and it has morphed over the years to the point where now it is very professional and fun. This is not a big place, so the tour takes you right into the spot where they do the distilling and you can see all the products where they are stored. At the end,... More

Since we showed up on a weekday, we were the only ones on our particular tour. This was very odd, since they have upwards of 70 people on their weekend tours... Lucky us!!! Our bartender, in which we had ordered some cocktails, ended up leading our tour downstairs. We were able to ask questions and be shown the entire process.... More

The distillery tour is fun and informative. But remember this is a micro-distillery so you are essentially in one room for all of it. You learn a bit and try a bit - usually taste six different spirits. Good quality alcohol. It's fun! But one disappointing thing is you don't get to keep any souvenir (no glass or anything as... Great Lakes Distillery is a wonderful way to learn about the distilling process. They have first rate products and the tour is outstanding. Staff is friendly and they let you taste each product - - which is a lot to taste! They also have a bar and serve interesting drinks with their products. I love the area they are located... More

The Great Lakes Distillery Tour is great fun. We took the tour with some friends visiting from California and we had a great time. Our tour was at 3:00 on a Friday afternoon and there were about 40 people. The tour guide was very informative and energetic. He was truly fun to listen to. The tour includes a tasting of... More
