Owner description: Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee Wisconsin. We hand-craft award winning distilled spirits in limited quantities using old world methods and traditions which we believe result in a superior product. We’re a bit of an anomaly in the spirits business - we actually make our own products! We’re a handful of people devoted to the craft of distilling and creating the best distilled spirits possible. As Wisconsin's first distillery since prohibition we are anxious to share our unique products and look forward to meeting people who appreciate high quality craft distilled spirits. Give us a try and see for yourself how unique these hand crafted spirits can be. We are pleased to be able to open our distillery to the public everyday for tours. During our approximately 1 hour tour, visitors will learn about our award winning products, how & why we make them and receive a flight of five products to try (complimentary soda is available for non-drinkers).

I loved the whiskey so decided to take the tour. Very informative - clearly explaining the distillation process, the difference between different spirits, the reason for aging in barrels, and more. Then we had an opportunity to taste 6 or 7 of their products - again with helpful explanations. I walked in already having purchased the whiskey, and now I'm... More

I love drinking at distilleries, so I had high hopes about Great Lakes. The space is pretty cool. There's one large circular bar and a few couches and faux-leather chairs where you can chill and enjoy your drink. Free popcorn is available to fuel your thirst. Where Great Lakes falls apart is their drink menu. It's the shortest drink menu... More

I have been on the tour several times, and it has morphed over the years to the point where now it is very professional and fun. This is not a big place, so the tour takes you right into the spot where they do the distilling and you can see all the products where they are stored. At the end,... More

Since we showed up on a weekday, we were the only ones on our particular tour. This was very odd, since they have upwards of 70 people on their weekend tours... Lucky us!!! Our bartender, in which we had ordered some cocktails, ended up leading our tour downstairs. We were able to ask questions and be shown the entire process.... More

The distillery tour is fun and informative. But remember this is a micro-distillery so you are essentially in one room for all of it. You learn a bit and try a bit - usually taste six different spirits. Good quality alcohol. It's fun! But one disappointing thing is you don't get to keep any souvenir (no glass or anything as... Great Lakes Distillery is a wonderful way to learn about the distilling process. They have first rate products and the tour is outstanding. Staff is friendly and they let you taste each product - - which is a lot to taste! They also have a bar and serve interesting drinks with their products. I love the area they are located... More

The Great Lakes Distillery Tour is great fun. We took the tour with some friends visiting from California and we had a great time. Our tour was at 3:00 on a Friday afternoon and there were about 40 people. The tour guide was very informative and energetic. He was truly fun to listen to. The tour includes a tasting of... More

The tour was very nice and informative. The staff was very knowledgeable and able to answer all questions. At end of tour you're given various shots to taste. Unless you like to just down "shots" it was a bit much for me but others oin the tour did enjoy the various shots. So if you like liquor this would be... More

This manufacturing tour and tasting venue in Milwaukee's iconic Walker's Point neighborhood is a clear winner. I have taken it several times now with different groups of visitors to the area and each time it just gets better and better. That's saying something these days when a lot of tourist venues never seem to blow the dust off their tired... More

The only reason I went, was becaz of groupon, 2 for 1. Its nothing like the beer tours. One room tour, it was extremely hot, no air, and then they give you a few shots straight, no mixer, that was like drinking peroxide, I through it away, as most did. I was so glad when it was done!!Never again!!
