Description: Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee...
Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee Wisconsin. We hand-craft award winning distilled spirits in limited quantities using old world methods and traditions which we believe result in a superior product. We’re a bit of an anomaly in the spirits business - we actually make our own products! We’re a handful of people devoted to the craft of distilling and creating the best distilled spirits possible. As Wisconsin's first distillery since prohibition we are anxious to share our unique products and look forward to meeting people who appreciate high quality craft distilled spirits. Give us a try and see for yourself how unique these hand crafted spirits can be. We are pleased to be able to open our distillery to the public everyday for tours. During our approximately 1 hour tour, visitors will learn about our award winning products, how & why we make them and receive a flight of five products to try (complimentary soda is available for non-drinkers).

We arrived early for our Saturday afternoon tour. We got drinks at the bar and got some free popcorn. We sat outside on their patio which was shaded in areas. When it was time for the tour, we received our wrist bands and headed downstairs to the distillery. It was very warm and felt crowded, Our guide explained the distillery... More

It's also pretty educational! We have taken the tour 3 times so far and don't doubt we'll do it again. When we have out of town guests it's one of the first things we think of to showcase Milwaukee! The tour guides are pretty awesome and make the education extremely entertaining. Definitely something to do when in Milwaukee!

Interestingly, I missed the tour. Was stuck at work. Was supposed to go with a friend. She did the tour and enjoyed it. Informative. Insightful. When I showed up, I received a "free" drink since I paid for the tour. Nice move. Classy. My friend did the tastings and like an spirits tasting, liked some more then others. Personal preference.... A nice change from all the brewery tours. Our guide was knowledgeable and humorous. Be sure to stop upstairs early for any one of their hand crafted cocktails. The Mooncusser is the best! The bar staff is very friendly too. Remember to eat - lots of sampling so it helps to have eaten. Fun and a great value at $7.

Ross was a very knowledgeable guide and shared an interesting perspective of distilling. He was technically adept, artistically minded, and blended the two like a fine whiskey.

Really informative tour and great products. The staff and guide are great and I learned a lot about the different liquors. For $7 you get the tour and tastings of Vodka, flavored vodka, Gin, Whiskey, Rum, and Absinthe. Absolutely worth it! I'm not a big liquor drinker but I very much enjoyed this. Great cocktails at the bar that you... More

The tour was interesting and the beverages were tasty. Choose one of the specialty ones (and maybe have a second). The bottled liquor is on the pricey side, but if you believe in buying local, well . . .

The distillery wasn't very big and the tour only takes 15 or 20 minutes but Andy was very knowledgable. The tasting took longer where we samples six of their products - very tasty. We even stayed on after the tasting for a cocktail also made with their product.

Very informative-learned a lot. Our guide was very knowledgeable and it was interesting to learn some of the history along side the processes. The tasting at the end was delightful. We were pleased to know Texas is on their distribution list so we could purchase their products at home!

Saw their tourism card in our hotel lobby and we were intrigued. Our bartender and fantastic tour guide, Andy, was the best! He's been a loyal customer before he became an employee, and you can tell the passion is there! Go and experience a Milwaukee "gem" destination. Oh, yes, the barrel reserve gin is divine...brought a bottle home.
