With gasoline prices so high and more people riding bikes, I'm sure (I, at least, hope) we'll start seeing more bicycle paths. So, riding the Oak Leaf Trail would be a great way to experience a future way to travel. Plus, it's beautiful, urban ride... more

The Oak Leaf Trail extends through much of Milwaukee County and is widely used for recreation and commuting. For visitors to the city, I'd recommend the stretch along the lakeshore that begins in South Shore Park in Bayview (a neighborhood in southeastern Milwaukee) and continues south for 7 or 8 miles to Grant Park, remaining frequently, though not exclusively, in... more

This kind of trail is the sort of thing that makes me get excited about bicycling (and trails in general).. when cities make this kind of effort to provide scenic and safe bike/hike/nature routes, people will simply USE them.. which is a win/win situation for all: commuters, recreationalists, even merchants.
