I had heard about this Shrine during several visits to La Crosse and finally this spring made not one but two stops. Not being Catholic, I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I learned and how incredibly beautiful this place is. What a meditative place to walk and see beautiful carvings and sculptures. The church is so gorgeous and... More

It was recommended that we visit here due to our history of miscarriages. The grounds are gorgeous and so peaceful. The church was huge (note to self-make sure you take the tour next time). But the highlight of the visit was the Memorial to the unborn babies. What a peaceful place to either entomb or memorialize your baby! It was... More

When visiting the shrine I couldn't help but wonder if I was witnessing a historic site in the making. Even Notre Dame de Paris was new once. The grounds are beautiful and nestled between the bluffs. Though the shrine is filled with spiritual significance (and rightfully so), the powerful Christian message shouldn't scare you away. Even an unbeliever could appreciate... More

Whether Catholic and on a Marian pilgrimage or simply curious, or just need to get away from it all, this is the place to visit. Beautiful setting and very peaceful. Be prepared for a lovely, uphill walk to get to the Shrine or if you come across the little shuttle, I suggest you use it to save time and is... More

A holy place. Hard to believe the people built this with donations. It will stand the test of time and draw visitors from around the world, if they can find it.

What a beautiful place, peaceful and gorgeous. I arrived just in time for Mass, which I wasn't planning on but it turned out to be exactly what I needed that day.

Went last fall, the colors were wonderful. Spent most of the day between brunch and mass and walking the paths. Everyone from young kids to teens to grandparents enjoyed the beauty.

If you are looking for an out of the way place that is NOT touristy, then this is it! Nice little chapel with stained glass windows, gardens complete with butterflies, and quiet places to walk and read. Very helpful staff, who obviously enjoy what they are doing,

I recently shared a trip to the Shrine with my mother. This was my third time walking up that trail and each time has been equally satisfying. Whether visiting while the snow is still on the ground, when the leaves are rust and gold or in the middle of the summer this is a beautiful and prayerful place.

We've passed by the Shrine a number of times on trips to and from La Crosse. Finally we decided to check it out. Very happy we did. Very serene. Lovely setting. Exceptionally well laid out and maintained. We took advantage of the tour of the main chapel which I can highly recommend. We got a real feel for this modern... More
