This is a new location which opened three years ago and it's huge!! There are hundreds of cheeses in the building along with everything else which might be rare in your area. I love string cheese and curds, they offer several varieties. They offer a deli with the best sandwiches you could buy! They make each sandwich fresh to order... More

My friends have always joked about this place, so when I saw it on the side of the road, I felt like I NEEDED to stop. Why not? Oh man was this place crowded. We had just come from Milwaukee which felt deserted, only to find that all the crowds had gone to the Cheese Castle. We didn't actually buy... More

The whole premise of visitors being welcomed to Wisconsin on 1-94 with this massive sign advertising the state's most famous item in a castle is kind of, ahem, cheesy. Despite its tacky and attention grabbing marketing strategy, this property has been around since 1947 selling its goods. In a recent improvement, the outside has been made to actually resemble a... We stopped here on our way out of Wisconsin just for kicks. Our toddler loves castles, so it was worth a stop just to see it. Inside there were the usual souvenirs etc. but also a lot of cheeses (and cheese curds) that were both made local and from around the world. There were lots of samples to be had.... More

I give Mars credit for variety and freshness of products sold. The prices however are a bit much. Do not buy the Kringles there. Instead, go North about 5 miles and take Rt 10 into Racine and stop at O&H Bakery. There you will find authentic Kringles at lower prices and a better variety. I do like they serve hot... More

We stopped by because my daughter saw a show about fried cheese curds and she figured that a place called Mars Cheese Castle would have them. They didn't however, they have the cheese curds and the coating so you can fry them yourself. It is definitely a tourist spot where you can get Sprecher's and Cheesehead hats and things like... More

Not sure what all the hype is about. It's essentially a grocery store which has a fairly large cheese department. They carry some area souvenirs if you need some and have a large statue of a mouse inside that kids might like. Unless you need to stretch your legs, you might want to keep driving.
