I have to say that I was very surprised by the Rotary Botanical Gardens in Janesville, WI. My friend had gone previously and told me how wonderful it was, but I honestly never pictured it being the extraordinary setting I encountered. I was a guest of the Lake Summerset Garden Club and we spent almost 2 hours touring with a... More

This garden has an extraordinary history. 25 years ago the garden site was an unsightly huge gravel pit. A local dentist suggested to the local Rotary Club that this would make a good site for a garden. The Rotary Club agreed and so the effort to create a garden began. Volunteers from the local General Motors plant (now closed) and... More

This destination has been on my "to-do" list, for years. Finally, we were able to casually wander through the beautiful gardens, during a sunny summer morning. There are several areas to visit, each with a different theme, focus, or type of vegatation. Benches beckon you to just sit and marvel at the beauty. Volunteers were diligently taking care of their... More

I'm not really a flower person, other than for photography, but this botanical garden is a must see. Every area is so well done, it's one of the most picturesque places I've seen. Be sure to get a map so you don't get lost, and check out all the creatures that live here. If you get tired, just have a... More

This place is the "Willy Wonka" of Christmas! I take my kids here every Christmas, it's one of our traditions now. You feel like you're in a different magical world, 1,000's of lights everywhere. It's the most beautiful X-mas thing you could ever experience. And depending on the night, they have a Santa Clause (and it's free, unlike the mall... More

This is my favorite garden next to the Allen Centennial Garden in Madison. I take many pictures with my IPhone and they turn out quite well. There is a lot to see here so relax and take your time. Every year they choose a theme, this year it's Adirondack chairs and chosen artists paint them. They are especially amazing this... More

I had the opportunity to visit the Rotary Botanical Gardens this spring while in Janesville for business. What an extraordinary place! I learned that each year the Gardens take on a different theme - this year it involves the color Pink. A fantastic place to stretch ones legs - a very nice visitor center with wonderful gift shop and amenities.... More

I drove about an hour to see this beautiful Rotary Park today to compare it with what my Rotary Club does in one of our local parks. No comparison. The Janesville park is a gem, with an assortment of beautiful gardens, rocks, fountains, ponds, benches and a great variety of well maintained plantings, all situated on the site of a... More
