I was lucky enough to attend two performances at Tommy O's Playhouse this summer, "Leaving Iowa" in July and "Summer Schlock" in September. Loved them both. "Leaving Iowa" was hilarious and everyone could relate to the "family trip". "Summer Schlock" was an interesting and very funny portrayal of what goes on behind the scenes of summer stock theater. The story... More

Fun place to visit in the North Woods. It used to be known as the Northlight Playhouse but i under new management. We saw an acceptable Gilbert & Sullivan there this summer.

We're glad you liked our community show HMS Pinafore. We sure had fun doing it! It is quite a daunting task to pull 20 or so folks from the community together in just a few weeks to perform the challenging lyrics and music of the great Gilbert & Sullivan. It's all in the name of entertainment for the folks visiting... More

Tommy O's is a wonderful Northwoods playhouse, nestled in the woods just a bit south of Minocqua, Wisconsin. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed their rendition of H.M.S. Pinafore, especially the performances of the talented cast. We laughed out loud on many occasions. The solos were sung beautifully and with convincing emotion. I encourage visitors to the Wisconsin Northwoods to... More

If you are looking for something different and like to support the performing arts, give Tommy O's Playhouse a chance. The theatre is cozy and rustic. The concession stand workers are always friendly and you canNOT beat the prices! There are even alcoholic options for the 21+ crowd. 'Leaving Iowa' has been my favourite performance here to date. I did... More

My husband and I just saw "How to Train Your Husband" at Tommy O's Playhouse in Hazelhurst, WI. It was fabulous. I haven't laughed out loud that much in an evening in a long time. The actors played their roles well; facial expressions were great; comedic timing was right on. We were with friends, and all of us thoroughly enjoyed... More

This show started off with the grandmother character degrading men in general. She called a man a dirty name and the show went downhill from there. It was boring with poor acting. The actors that played the grandfather, grandaughter and mother were very good. The two actors that came down into the audience and had fun with a man &... More

We are sorry you didn't enjoy this production. It has been generally well received by audiences. This play was written by a New Zealander and some people don't appreciate the humor. If you had stayed for the full production, you would have seen a turn in the story and an interesting lesson. We hope you'll give our theater another try... More

Thank you, Tommy O for keeping the theater alive in the North woods. I attended "P S I love you, USO" with three friends. The singing was wonderful and I loved the sing-alongs, especially "God bless America" at the end. If Tommy O could just get control of his "ums' and "ahs" it would be a topnotch show. Sally, Buffalo,... More

Thanks, Sally, We are so glad that you enjoyed the show. Tom loves to do things to honor the troops... in fact, he closes every single Tommy O Show with God Bless America, too!.We are so used to his um's and ah's... it's just part of his endearing personality! But we'll make sure he sees your comment. More

We took our three children (ages 19, 16 & 13) to see ''Leaving Iowa'' and we all LOVED it. It is very difficult to please everyone in the family, especially kids, but this group of outstanding actors had no problems capturing and holding the attention of all five of us. The acting was superb, the sound effects were excellent, the... More

WhendiSue, thanks for visiting us. Leaving Iowa is a little-known gem. We are trying some lesser-known shows this year to see how people like them, so it is great to hear good feedback! We hope you will come again and again! More

We have seen 2 shows this summer so far: Tommy O's 70's Musical Fondue on Friday and PS I Love You, a USO Revue. Both were very enjoyable with several audience sing alongs included. It is a community theater, with lots of local participation, both as performers and behind the scenes. We have been going to this theater for about... More

The theater is rustic, wooden sides, they left the doors open and ceiling exhaust fans so it was comfortable. Seats are from a 1980's movie house. We saw "How to train your husband". Actors were good but lousy script. Sound and lighting are very good. Others on the trip said the plays are usually much better.

Barb, thank you for your review. We are sorry that you were disappointed in the script for "How to Train your Husband", as audiences are finding it very entertaining. This season we are trying to bring some lesser known playwrights to the area. This particular show is from New Zealand. We hope you will come again! Try HMS Pinafore at... More
