This natural area is not the easiest place to find, but it is well worth the effort. Wildflowers were exceptional when we were there. On the trails and even on the road in, glades of Trillium and yellow slipper orchids were in bloom. On the trails you will see Habernaria orchids as well. We visited during the first week in... This bluff is worth taking a look (and some pictures) at. The drive to it was very pretty. It was mid-October when we went so all of the leaves had changed color. It was beautiful. I took quite a few pics of just the road and the trees with the different colored leaves (mainly shades of yellow). The bluff itself... More

This park is a couple of miles off of Hwy 42 between Sister Bay and Ellison Bay. Follow the signs from 42. The drive back is absolutely beautiful in the fall with gorgeous colors lining the road. There is a very nice wooden deck right on the bluff for easy access viewing of the bluff and water and there are... More

My husband and I were meandering back roads in Door County when we saw a sign indicating a scenic overlook. That's how we found Ellison Bluff State Natural Area. It was a rainy day and that's probably why we didn't see another soul in the park. The drive to the lookout point was beautiful with the fall foliage and when... More

Five older family members visited Ellison Bluff ....what a beautiful view. The steps are easily .maneuvered so that all of us easily traversed the steps. We liked the view so much that we returned in the evening to see the sunset there...it was magnificent. Others too showed up to see the sunset too, so that it actually got a little... More

Take a very easy 1.5 mile hike and see the view! It's a very doable trail and well drained so if it's wet not to slippery. it's nice place to take a short hike and burn off a few calories.

Easy hiking trail. Covered in gravel so well drained and fairly flat. We did one about a mile long. It was very rainy that week and we had no problems.

We took a quick turn off of 42 when we saw a sign advertising a scenic overlook. Sometimes these are the best things to see on vacation! This did not disappoint. A few climbs down some stairs and out onto a small bridge and we had a gorgeous overlook of the bluffs and the Lake. There are also picnic tables... More

What prompted us to go to Ellison Bluff? The fact that it is hardly mentioned in any promotional material regarding Door County. My suspicious side thinks this might be on purpose, as this beautiful and serene picnic area offered one of the best views of Green Bay I have seen in many years of coming to Door County. Maybe they... More

This a a nice scenic side stop and the view of green bay was worth a detour. The first lookout points are easily accessible. We did not do the entire hiking loop or stop for a picnic but the site was well maintained and clean.
