Our family visited Stone's Throw for the first time, and it will certainly not be the last! Michael was very knowledgable and helpful in suggesting wines for everyone in our group. The location is gorgeous, and as an outdoor designer I was particular fond of the bocce ball courts and floating 'tree bar'. I can't wait to visit again!

We are not serious wine drinkers, but were looking for something to do on a rainy afternoon. The winery charges $6.00 for sampling 5 different varieties of their wines and you get to keep the wine glass. That is a good value, as the pours are very generous. This is not the place to go for fruity, sweet wines -... More

Dear Richardsons F, Yes, we are for “serious wine drinkers”, but do offer more than 8 sweet wines. Perhaps you missed the back page of our tasting menu. Respectfully, Russell Turco, Owner More

The staff was very friendly. Our server Michael, was very attentive and knowledgable. The setting reminds me of wineries in California. All in all a wonderful visit.

Wasn't happy.the server of wine wasn't friendly. Had no crackers to cleanse your pilate .would not rinse out the glasses in between whites and reds. The wine glass that were given to you for tasting to keep .they didn't rinse out for us.

Dear Shilio, I apologize for your server as we take our service VERY SERIOUSLY, with on-going training for staff. We discourage rinsing of glasses as there is always residual water in the glass – as little as ½ ounce which WILL alter the taste of the wine… as will “crackers”. We at Stone’s Throw are professional tasters and winemakers, and... More

My family and I have been frequent visitors to Stone's Throw Winery and Aventura Wine Club members for the past 10 years. Enjoying their wines, and spending time with Russell, Lisa and their friendly staff is an essential part of our Door County experience, if not the main reason for our regular trips from Madison. We have had the privilege... More

First the good news. Our server--Ginny--was welcoming and knowledgeable. She knew her product, and more importantly, knew and understood the differences between each of the varietals on the menu. But then there's the wine. I gotta admit, I don't understand the business model behind Stone's Throw. They bring in grapes from California, and they make the wine there. Okay, I... More

Dear Mongo… Thanks for the four star review. We earned it! Next, let me address your many talking points: our business model…so far, so good, seventeen full years of yearly, yes yearly sales growth through the “recession” and all. Three Zinfandels? You bet, see we’re known for Zins and there’s a marked difference between Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino grapes… as... More

As soon as we walked through the door, we felt like intruders. We were never greeted. No one said "hi, we'll be right with you" our even "come up try some wine samples". I had picked out a gift for a friend and waited at the cash register and wad still ignored. I laid the gift down and left. We... More

I am so glad, hbouhl, that you were able to alert us to the staff members who had not been up to our usual standards for great customer service. Try as we might, being understaffed on that day we let our customer service slip. I trust you are enjoying the complimentary case of wine we sent to thank you for... More

Enjoyed the wine tasting but not much of a selection. Wines are a little pricey. This isn't one of our favorites. It's a beautiful place and wonderful staff

Thanks for the positive comments about our winery and our wonderful staff… we think so too! We offer over 25 selections that range from $10 to $100. So perhaps, based on your other reviews, you only want “Cherry” wine unless you have us confused with another winery. More

Being big wine lovers, we wanted to visit at least one winery in Door County during our trip. I think Stone's Throw is probably your best option. It isn't the typical Door County winery, which (from what we saw and experienced) focused more (or solely) on cherry wine. Stone's Throw actually sources their grapes from California, and then makes the... More
