This trail is a great trip - hiking, biking or roller-blading. It's well maintained and, for the most part, very scenic. I rode my bike from downtown Eau Claire and along the Water Street side of the river. I went about 18 miles south and back. I also took the north extension, I think it was called the Ol' Abe... Beautiful walk includes river views and city scapes. Four mile loop is flat and scenic. Walk or bike ride can be extended in both directions.

Good mix of rural and urban feel...can get a little crowded in the city, but overall a scenic bike ride that is relatively flat. Plan on bringing your own water...

Pretty, flat, scenic, great for kids and families. More crowded near town center and fairly desolate south of town. Great for running and biking, although most users are walkers/runners. Well maintained and user friendly

Still one of the nicest trails in the region. Beautiful canopy of trees embrace the paved trail. Friendly critters abound.. rabbits, grouse, deer, and even people on occasion.

It gets pretty remote, so make sure if you are biking that you bring plenty of water. It is a great day trip, and the trails are easy for the whole family

The Chippewa River is a great river for a canoeing or kayaking trip. It is wider than the Red Cedar in Menomonie, WI. A good place to enter and park for free is by Hobbs Ice Arena. I saw lots of wildlife on this trip including a bald eagle, hawk, family of ducks, and fish. It was much more desolate... More

Looking for a good run (or bike) around Eau Claire? This is the the place. It is really the gem of the Chippewa Valley. It meanders around the river and downtown. Across bridges and through parks. It's not as well-marked as it could be, which makes it difficult for first timers but it's easy to figure out.

Beautiful area to explore and enjoy the beauty of nature, especially during autumn when leaves change.

Four of us rode our mountain bikes from Eau Claire to just past Carryville. Very few walkers, joggers or fellow bikers on the trail. We rode over bridges, past beautiful farms and in the woods. It's fairly flat so it's an easy ride.
