Old Abe is a nice trail.

Old Abe is a very nice bike trail. Paved and in excellent condition. A very scenic trail, but not too difficult.

The Old Abe trail is a joy to ride. It is paved asphalt and very wide. Started at Lake Wissota State Park and went north to Jim Falls. Came back and crossed the bridge over the lake toward the Chippewa River trail. Well worth the $4 trail fee. Easy access and parking at the intersection of County Highways S and... More

We did this ride the last Saturday in June, 2015. Very flat and scenic. Surface is asphalt and in wonderful condition. The dairy cafe in Cornell had great soup and sandwiches. The ice cream looked good but we were too full for ice cream after soup and sandwiches.

I've been living in Colorado for the past eight years so the only time I ever ride my bike anymore is when I come back to WI. It's paved, it's flat, it's shaded and it's awesome! I do this trail every year. This year I did it on a weekday and never saw another person on the trail. I saw... More

If you are looking for a smoothly paved no hills trail, this is it! The 10 miles or so from Jim Falls to Cornell is exceptionally scenic along the Chippewa river.

A large piece of this bike trail has been repaved and is great to rollerblade or bike on as you travel along the Chippewa River and through the woods (to Grandmother's House we go!! HAHA).

We took our 9 yr old son biking on the Old Abe Trail on a Thursday morning. We got on at Jim Falls. It took us awhile to figure out how and where to get our Trail Passes because at first we pulled up at the Town Hall there in Jim Falls which was locked. Then we saw the sign... More

I have ridden the Old Abe from Chippewa Falls to Cornell before, and the area between Chippewa Falls and Jim Falls needed replacement after the power company finished tower installations next to the trail. The surface is now new, so the surface is fantastic for runners, cyclists and roller blades. Portions of the trail are nicely shaded; north of Jim... More

The trail is newly resurfaced in 2012/2013 and in the best of condition. If you get to the north end you can have ice cream at Dylan's Dairy homemade by the proprietor from the 6 cows SHE milks every day!
