We love coming to Devils Lake where the water is crystal clear and the air is fresh. The entire experience was gratifying.

We did a 5 hours hike in this area and its really beautiful there, the trails are very well marked and maintained, and it was not crowdy.

With some of the more spectacular rock formations in the midwest and a scenic lake all a short drive from Madison, it is little wonder this is a popular park. Unfortunately, the heavy traffic has taken its toll on the place. Some of the "trails" are actually paved with asphalt, and the campgrounds/recreational facilities have undermined the natural feel of... More

This state park is like none other! The hiking and the lake are amazing. There is all sorts of hiking for each type of person, all the way to the person who wants to climb the rocks with climbing gear. This is a very family friendly park, and if you want to know about the ecology in that area, the... More

We drive here from Milwaukee a couple of times a year for the hike around the lake. There are several trails with different levels of dificulty. How much scrambling up rocks, natural steps, etc do you want this time. One visit gave eye level views of eagles from the bluff. The last hike was two times around th lake, each... More

The best climbing around the Midwest. Excellent camping facilities and a beautiful lake to dip in after a hard days climbing.

I've been here multiple times and every time I enjoy myself. Camping is really enjoyable here you have a decent sized campsite and if you bring a friend its lots of fun! I didn't enjoy the showers though... Not exactly clean and kind of a pain because you have to hold down the button for it to stay on. Hiking... More

We were at Devil's Lake State Park on 10/21 and the colors were still beautiful. We did a bit of the West Bluff Trail (maybe a half a mile) and then headed back to our car. Our original plan was to do the loop with the West Bluff Trail & the Tumbled Rocks Trail but it wasn't the warmest day... More

Not to be missed if you are in the area. Bring a picnic lunch, or buy one at the park. The colors in the fall are especially wonderful.

Our family has been to Devil's Lake State Park many times, but the best time to go is in late September or October when the color is at it's peak. There are so many parts of the park, you do not need to just go where the crowds are. You can camp, picnic, climb, hike, fish & just lounge around.... More
