Relaxing and beautiful day; Good place for a bike ride

We absolutely love Madeline island:) We took the Ferry over with our car. It was nice to have a vehicle, although next time I'd like to rent scooters. There is plenty to see and do on Madeline Island. We go at least once a year!

I'm so glad we took the ferry to Madeline Island. We took our vehicle to the island so we could see everything, although you don't need to. There are little shops and a fun bar right off the ferry.

This Lake Superior island is very natural and beautiful in the summer. I had been mistakenly led to believe that this was something like an artists' colony. Not so, but still a nice place to visit. We rented bikes in advance on the mainland and took them across the ferry (there is also bike rental on the island, but I... More

It only cost us 75 dollars to ride the ferry here round trip but it sure was worth it. This place is really unique to the whole area. The ferry ride affords you great views of the islands and is really a lot of fun. The island is really kind of an artists community that is sustained by tourism. Bring... More

We stayed 4 days, probably a day too long but the booking agent required it. There are beaches and views but our cabin was not so good...not clean and the cooking implements were dirty. The heat and AC did not work but it had a fireplace. Because of these problems the management comped us one day.

Amazed by the "not much to do" reviews... and am bewildered what kind of "shopping" expectations one might have wen venturing out to an island with a population of 200. Personally not much to do is the beauty of Madeline Island and Lake Superior. Get to town early and grab a spot at the Beach Club, enjoy a long lunch... More

Found some pretty sites on the Island traveled to the North side and found some pretty trails one leading down to Lake Superior and a dock. Never have I seen water sooooo clear.

Rode bikes, hiked the flat shoreside trails and visited the Museum on the beautiful fall extended weekend. Many facilities closed, like the kayak/SU rental place and may restaurants but there was enough open to fully enjoy the island. Residents are very friendly and helpful. We rented a house for our extended family and recommend this approach. We luckily purchased most... More

There are cabin rental where bike, motorcycle, kayak, canoe, etc. are available free to use too. Big Bay Town Park has so beautifully peaceful view for the kayak- or canoe-able bay and sand beach. Trail is covered with wood deck and connected to Big Nay State Park.
