Start with an 11,000 acre playground serving up the best of the mountains, however you like it. Your days here are like having dessert first. Our Village is situated atop the mountain and gives you access to spa-ing, shopping and even dancing. It all feels better at 4,848 feet.

Best resort close to DC

We have been to all of the ski resorts within 3 to 4 hours of the DC metro area and this is hands down the best.

I have been to Snowshoe twice. It is a great spot. It can get a bit crowded so I would suggest coming during the weekday, tends to be a bit less crowded. Don't skip over Silver Creek, great boarding there as well.

So if you've spent a little time reading the reviews before hand you'll know that the time to go to this resort is not the weekend. My wife and I arrived on a Sunday and immediately were checked into our room that we rented from a VBRO owner. We were is MT Lodge 225 with an in room internet connection... More

Such an amazing mountain to ride. Challenging but exciting. We will definitely be revisiting! Easy access to the mountain and to the beer/food stations throughout the mountain.

Had a great time this summer in Snowshoe. Enjoyed the down time and get away from the hustle of the city life. The weather was beautiful cool and low humidity for July but still warm enough to enjoy the Split Rock outdoor pool and the beach at the lake. Activities for my kids were available and that kept them busy.... More

The resort is laid out in a reverse fashion with the facilities at the top. There are many good medium difficulty runs. Weekends are pretty packed as with most east coast ski resorts. We stayed in a 4 bedroom townhouse with a fantastic view of the valley and sunset. The restaurants and bars are laid out nicely for access from... More

The Slopes are great and on the bottom of the mountain there is a café next to the lake where you can eat and relax before you go back up. They also have a slope for kids or starter skiers.

The brochure that the resort publishes and provided to guests are inaccurate and very misleading. It made a pleasant visit into a planning nightmare. The resort is great but not managed well with the staff very uninformed or helpful. The views are breathtaking but does not make up for terrible service.

It's a village on top of a mountain. During the winter, the place is alive with winter sports. In the summer it's less active, but still nice to see.
