Many of my relatives worked for the Virginia Railroad and the Norfolk and Western. Both are deeply embedded in the history of this region. The displays would be very interesting and personal to anyone with ties to either of these two great railroads.

The website stated they are open on Sundays. We arrived on Sunday. Hours on door state not open on Sunday. This is a shame. Call ahead if you want to visit to confirm they are actually open. The restored Princeton WV train station looked nice from the outside. A restored caboose is on property. There really is nothing else close... More

Looked cute. Hours on website said they were open on Sundays but when we got there the posted hours were different. Bummer.

Everyone likes trains! This new museum in Princeton, WV, is a great place to go if you're vacationing in this part of WV. The restored Depot is very attractive and the displays are well labeled and interesting. The best part, for our family of grandparents and grandkids, was the children's play area on the second floor. My husband's the railroad buff but I also enjoyed visiting this little gem of a museum. Nice displays, laid out so they're easy to see, lots of light and room. The docent clearly knows her stuff and loves her job. Definitely a kid-friendly place.
