This road, especially from Cranberry Nature Center on Route 55/39 to Route 219 north of Marlinton, WV, is well maintained and bumper to bumper wild mountain scenery. the speed limit is lowered to 40 or 45 I believe, but I am usually rolling along slower than that. we go there to see migrating warblers in the spring and always get... The Highland Scenic Highway in WV is WELL worth a ride. I went from US 219 across the Parkway section, then rode over to Richwood going west on a sunny late autumn afternoon, and had the roads all to myself along the entire route. I stopped along the parkway section to take in the fantastic vistas, and boy, you can... More

Went for a fall drive. Lots of fog so we'll have to try again. Drove from Richwood north. This is a scenic highway so no amenities!! Stop in Richwood or Marlington before getting on! Would recommend for fall foliage viewing!

The views are simply amazing! Take a lunch and stop at the overlook and just relax and feel the worries of the day wash away! The fall colors are amazing! In summer the view is of lush forest green!

We took the drive as a fall weekend getaway: windy roads, lots of mountains and valleys, spectacular views when the mist lifts.

Back to nature . . . it's a beautiful drive. Don't pass it up. This is an experience one should not miss, a truly relaxing and unique adventure. It was a beautiful fall foliage drive with absolutely breathtaking views. I will surely return to hike the trails. West Virginia at it's best. It's awesome.

We inadvertently came at the perfect time to see the leaves! The road was well maintained and had several great spots to stop and take pictures and just enjoy the gorgeous views. Would highly recommend!

Great Drive to see fall colors, and take some photos of fall colors. You may have one more week end for 2014 to take some fall color photos. We also stopped by to see the three water falls. Need to go see them. Impressive. Now the water level is very low at this time of year as many rivers do... More
