There was very little traffic, so we could go as slowly as we wanted to, to admire the beautiful scenery. Plenty of places to pull over. Lots of marked trails to hike.

Lots of views and photo opportunities. We were there during the shutdown so we can't comment on the facilities

The Scenic Highway is a spectacular bicycle ride. The road is in good condition (no trucks or snowplows) and the views wonderful. A rewarding ride both ways. Start at the Visitors center and ride as far as you want then turn around and head back for another set of views.

Because my town, Richwood WV, sits at the edge of the Monongahela National Forest, it is surrounded by natural beauty. A drive along Route 39 through the forest offers numerous natural attractions suitable for hiking, camping, fishing, picture taking as well as painting, and just stretch-your-legs adventuring. Well-marked forest trails, lake and riverside camp sites, deep water and fly fishing... More

Rt. 150 from rt.219 to Rts 39/55 has several overlooks. Fall leaf colors are more varied and distinct. Not crowded.

This highway is limited to auto traffic only.....so no trucks to deal with. A great place to go when it's hot as temps are often 10-20 degrees lower on top of the mountain. Many trails and places to stop at overlooks. The Black Mtn overlook has a short boardwalk trail to an overlook and a nice little picnic shelter. Very... More

This is the most beautiful and relaxing drive!! There was no traffic-we only passed 2 or 3 cars. We used it to drive to Route 19 from the Marlinton area. There are a number of overlooks and hiking trails. We didn't stop at any because it was raining when we drove it. But definitely plan to return and enjoy the... More

We loved the scenic highway. We brought a picnic lunch with us and ate it in the campground near the river. There are lots of overlooks that also have bathrooms. We also visited Cranberry glades which was interesting. The roads are well maintained.

Worth the drive especially to go leaf peeping and in spring. One of the most beautiful by ways in West Virginia. Beautiful all year round.
