We happened to be passing thru the area on our SPring Break trip and stopped at this little museum. The lady at the volunteer desk was very nice and very informative. I think our nine year old even enjoyed browsing thru the museum. After leaving this museum, we had to go find the statue of John Henry in neighboring town.... More

Visited while waiting to reboard the New River Train Excursion. Lots of historical information to digest and not enough time that day. The museum volunteers were very friendly and informative, especially the older gentlemen who used to operate the telegraph and teletype systems.

Went to Hinton during Railroad Days. Stopped in the Museum and was pleasantly surprised with the details and information. Better then the crafters at the street fair.

This museum looks modest from the street but is quite large (two floors). Very rustic in a restored, historical guilding with tons of local memorabelia from a by-gone era of railroading and commerce in Hinton. You can easily spend an hour or longer in this charming little place, and they take donations but do not charge any fees!

There is a nice lady who greets you as you come in and gives you a brief history of the railroad in the area. The musuem is free but accepts donations. Definately a must see if you like to... More

We didn't know why we were driving to Hinton, we just thought we should and we found this little railroad museum and found it quite delightful. There was an sweet older lady who greeted us and gave us a bit of information and then we browsed the pictures and wood carvings showing the history of the region's railroad. We are... More
