We recently just went to Winterplace for the first time with 2 other families. All the children did ski school and they LOVED it and had a great time. A couple of the kids had never skied before and by the end of the day, they were on chairlifts skiing down the blues. The kids that had skied before were... More

For what it is, this place is nice. We went the day after Christmas and had essentially zero lines at the lifts. The people are good, and service accordingly good. That's the good news. The bad news is that this is, after all, West Virginia, not Colorado. The snow was all man-made, and there are very few runs. There are... More

About 3.5 hours from Raleigh NC. We arrived at the beginning of the year, no snow around but Winterplace had made up base of about 30-50 inches. Lift tickets are about 50-60 dollars adult and that includes skiing from morning opening to 10PM which includes the night skiing. Ski rental is about 20-35 dollars for adult and includes skies, poles... More

We just spent 3 days at Winterplace and had a wonderful experience. It's a great place for beginners! Our family included an 11 and 13 year old as well as myself and husband. Pros: Easy 3 hour drive from Charlotte, Very friendly, helpful staff, equipment in good condition, reasonable rates (great learn to ski package included lesson, lift ticket, equipment),... More

We loved Winterplace and will be back. Our only other ski experience was at Snowshoe and we found Winterplace much easier to navigate. Our kids (age 9 and 11) both did Ski Wee snowboarding school for the full day and learned a lot. There are lots of easy green and blue runs for inexperienced skiers. It's easy to get to... More

The staff here is amazing and accommodating. Our 4 and 6 year old took ski lessons and this Florida mom was so nervous until I met the staff... They are still talking about how fun. The kids absolutely loved it and they felt safe with three kids with one instructor. We went to sugar mountain a few days after and... More

Our family had a good time but here are some notes: - overpriced tubing passes (should offer a lower discounted 2 hr rate - without it being contingent on buying a lift ticket for skiing). Most other ski resorts with tubing offers an average rate of $20.00 for two hours. But the lines did move well. - most ski trails... More

We took advantage of a package they were offering for lift tickets and lessons - great deal! The instructors were very patient and helpful. They had several green and blue slopes, which is great for beginners and we didn't have to wait in line for the ski lifts. There are also cabins right next to the slopes. About three hours... More
