This, out of the way, area of W. Virginia is well worth visiting. We enjoyed the last of the Fall colors and had a pleasant evening camping, counting 18 deer that came out at dusk. Off season means, little traffic, the staff was efficient and the campground facilities were first rate.

I would go back for every season. All 4 seasons are just beautiful. The mountains in Fall color is splendid. Lots to do in the area. The best hiking and just relaxing outside.

We have skied in Canaan Valley for over a decade, going back and forth to Timberline and the state park. It boils down to this: The state park is well run, clean, good food service but not as much snow. It is a bit more formal and great for adults. We purchased our season tickets for here this coming year.... More

My husband and I stayed at Canaan Valley Resort's lodge on Oct. 1 & 2. This was the first time we had stayed since the new lodge had been completed. It was beautiful!! We were greeted by a very friendly and knowledgeable young woman. Check-in was easy and quick. Once we walked into our room, we were extremely pleased. The... More

Watch out for the deer... they're all over the place. We stayed three nights and loved it. Unfortunately it rained most of our stay and that limited what we could do. Try not to visit on a Monday and Tuesday off-season. Almost everything in the area is closed

The rooms are big....and plush. And the bathrooms are spacious. It was spotless in the room, the halls and everywhere else was too. The only thing I didnt like was this trip we could only stay one night.. Oh yeah, the deer are very friendly!!!

Accommodations were excellent and so much to do. Wish I could have stayed longer. Only issue was that the golf was way too expensive for 9 holes. Should be a better deal if staying at hotel.

My husband and I stayed three nights at the Canaan Valley Resort to take advantage of the wonderful hiking in the region. We did not play golf or tennis or shoot skeet, so leave those experiences to others to report. The rooms were nicely designed and clean. We opted for a junior suite -- which wasn't really a suite, but... More
