I recently spent President's Day weekend with friends at Timberline to try out my rudimentary snowboarding skills. The mountain wasn't bad (not a true "Four Seasons" or "resort" by any means, but I wasn't exactly expecting Chamonix or Whistler). Prices were higher due to the holiday weekend (and they had an equipment shortage -- they ran out of size 9... More

Timberline is an excellent resort for the beginner or the expert skier. They have a great variety of slopes always perfectly groomed. The housing around the mountain, which we have stayed in three different ones, are so cozy and well stocked. The ski school and instructors or top notch- some of the best in the business!

We discovered Timberline Four Seasons resort in January 2015 and it is by far our favorite mountain to snowboard in the eastern United States. Every time we have been the snow conditions are fantastic. If has some great intermediate to advanced trails and we love that it's not too crowded. It also boasts that it has the longest beginner trail... More

My weekend at Timberline was perfect! I couldn't have asked for much better snow conditions. The powder was wonderful. Also staying in Timberline's bunk house is super affordable. I'm am definitely looking forward to revisiting this resort!

We traveled to Timberline this past weekend for a Fri-Sun stay at the timbers inn, Timberline's new slopeside hotel. The price for the hotel was great ($169/nt) compared to other ski resort lodges. The location of the hotel was great and the room was fine, very clean and basic. It had everything we needed. The only downfall is that there... More

The two resorts Canaan Valley and Timberline are located only about 2 ~ 3 miles apart. Both have remarkably good ski conditions for the mid-Atlantic region. Both have a fair assortment of green, blue and black trails; Canaan Valley also has a "carpet" for children who are just beginners. On weekdays, there is never a lift line at all; in... More

Nice ski slopes, for those that had working snow making machines. Besides this the place is falling apart. Lifts are very old, slow and in disrepair. The Lodge is cramped, bad dining options and also failing apart. Maybe when the new highway completes they will upgrade. I would hope the state of West Virgina would chip in. With a new... More

There was a lot of snow and not just on the slopes. The slopes are always groomed perfectly. I really enjoy mid-week skiing when there are not lift lines. They have some nice long (2 mile and 1.5 mile) slopes as well as some challanging slopes. Good for beginners to experts. Good ski school. I hope to ski over 40... More

Timberline has many ski runs -in varying degrees of difficulty- for the whole family. We had beautiful weather, and the snow was mostly powder. The 2 ski lifts are quite slow, and due to the nice weather the lines for the lifts was very long. It felt like we spent more time waiting and riding than skiing. The rental process... More

Came here with a boy scout group - our group included scouts and adults who stayed in the bunkhouse, and adults who rented a nearby (but not slopeside) home. Pros: good snow (mostly snowmaking), good steep, fast, groomed black diamond slopes, slopes are not crowded when skiing. Cons: slow lifts, few moguls. Great area if your group includes beginners and... More
