We arrived late at night and found the area welcoming and fairly easy to find-- the detailed directions the center provides really helped! We settled into a clean, spacious tent site (it was early in the season, so not at all crowded!). The next day, Ashley & Jessie led us and ~10 other people on a via ferrata climb. This... More

Nelson Rocks is a beautiful discovery in West Virginia that should be added to everyone's bucket list! Two evenings of walking up the hill to discover new things about the rocks was just what was needed after arrival and the working all day. The accomodations are simple and the host very hospitable. Definitely coming back!!

It was my first climb, AND I was the oldest in the group. It only made sense that I was volunteered to be the first one up! I quickly realized that I wasn't in as good physical condition as I'd thought. Our guide, Shelby encouraged me, and helped me to enjoy myself on what could have been a scary experience... More

We showed up without reservations on a Sunday morning in late October and Chris and Brian went out of their way to accommodate us. They called in another guide, Matt, who came in especially for us. My wife and I were on the only ones on the tour, except for Brian and Matt, our wonderful guides. These guys had great... More

My wife and I are spending time in the Shenandoah area. I saw the via feratta, and though not great with heights, knew I wanted to do it. I booked it. On our arrival, there was no other " climbers". Our guide was Shelby, and she could not have been more open, helpful, encouraging, light hearted and competent. We were... More

An experience I will remember forever. The views you get during this climb are incredible. It is certainly very scary and probably not for those afraid of heights. For the most part you are pretty much on your own to do the climb, and the guides provide minimal help but are very friendly.

My wife and I went to NROC and did the Via Ferrata this past week. Our guide was Matt and we were joined by the new NROC marketing guy (Chris). Both of us are experienced climbers and we TOTALLY enjoyed the Via Ferrata experience. It was well guided with great conversation, some entertaining humor, and most importantly....it was safely done.... More

Fun day exploring the rocks. Guides were helpful and instructive. Via Ferrata style climbing gives one the feel of lead climbing without the exposure and rope skills required by Traditional climbs. Overall a great day.

My visit to Nelson Rocks was a result of a wedding in the area. I needed a room close to the event. There are 8 rooms available. All are on the second floor with a spacious porch area with rockers and other chairs. It was great to sit on the porch and enjoy the great views and wonderful breeze. The... More

The Via Ferrata is a little known adventure that challenges the natural fear of heights. Experienced guides train you to be safe and monitor your progress during the 4 hour climb. This is a must do WV experience!
