A beautiful landmark on the Capitol grounds. The statues are wonderful and the inside of the monument is beautiful. You can go to the WV State museum afterwards since it is walking distance. Also close a lot of great places to eat.

West Virginians are known to volunteer for service since before we became a legal state. WV citizens take their patriotism seriously as well as the Christianity and Constitutional Rights. This is a nice memorial as are many around our Capital lawn. I recommend time to enjoy the cultural center as well as shows they offer and the walk thru our... More

My girlfriend, Allison, a native of WVA, started my tour of her state by taking me to Charleston where we would visit the Capitol Building, Veterans Memorial, and State Museum located adjacent to each other on the same block, 1900 Kanawha Blvd. This memorial pays tribute to the brave men and women who have served this country well above and... This Memorial is in the Complex with the State Capitol building, other government buildings and the Governor's Mansion. There is a feeling of solemness once you cross the bridge to enter the monument. I assume there is water under the bridge in the spring and summer. In November, the water is not there (under the bridge). Each column (wall) of... More

I used to walk by this memorial each day to work and it still catches my attention each time I go by now.

This is right next door to the WV State Capitol. Well worth a visit to honor those who have fallen in defense of our nation. While we were there during a bright sunny day, the lighting fixtures embedded about the monument make me think this would look awesome at night.

Honoring the men who served in WWI, WWII, Korea and VietNam of each of the 4 sides, surrounded by a moat, it features a service man in period appropriate uniform, frozen in time. I watched the artist sculpt these statues while attending art classes. Joe is very detail obsessed and took great care with the depictions.

This is one of the finest Veterans' Memorials we've ever seen. Very well done. When you visit the capitol you won't want to miss this. A must for every American.

Excellent memorial to both the men and woman who have served from West Virginia. Well worth some time on the way through the campus to the State Museum/Cultural center.

Nothing gives me chills more than seeing them men and women who gave their life for our freedom. As a veteran, I believe this memorial is in great shape and even underwent maitnance to keep it looking great not too long ago. If I ever go to the Capitol, I always stop by just to take a gander. Thank you... More
