The Capitol really is worth going out of your way to visit. I always enjoy the portraits of past governors on the walls. The Supreme Court is quite impressive, so don't forget to stop in there after seeing the House and Senate chambers. The cafeteria isn't bad, either. You can really get a feel for the state workers and the... More

Since the Republicans have the majority votes now, they have made it that one has to go through security to enter and only 2 doors are available for entry...East or West Wing. This is our State Capitol and they actually close doors on certain days not to allow entry! ??????

I've seen alot of Capitol's in my time and this one takes the cake as 2nd behind the US capitol. The gold dome sticks out. If you're in Charleston you need to stop by to see it. Parking is free all around it in the off hours or weekends.

Beautiful building. Worth seeing inside and taking a walk around the grounds. Wonderful statue of Abe Lincoln in front on the river side.

Make the most of visiting this beautiful building. From the outside, walk around the whole building, seems to be something beautiful from every angle. The inside is gorgeous, the detail in the interior design is amazing. Would recommend the tour but if it's not available when you're there, still take the time to walk around. Make sure to stop by... The West Virginia State Capitol is absolutely beautiful, inside and out! You can view this beauty from Interstate 64 and 77, East and West bound, as she stands proud for all to see. Go inside and be prepared for its charm! As you walk down the marble and granite halls, you will see all of the Governor's paintings of West... More

This is a beautiful building and area to visit. We loved seeing the ornate style of the Capital building and especially enjoyed the museum next door. We learned a lot about our great state by walking through the exhibits and reading as we went.

Across the street from the West Virginia Museum they are a nice pair to visit when staying in the city. We had an overnight stop in Charleston and stayed a few minutes from the capital building. Very nice walking area to a shopping area and then over to the history in the museum and capitol building. There are guided tours,... More

We arrived later in the day in Charleston and stopped by the State Capital of West Virginia. The golden dome is bright with lights at night. Taking pictures on the steps of the building was a highlight.

Tour is only about 30 minutes long. Tour Guide very informative and answered all questions. This State Capital Building is better that seeing the Capitol in DC. Would recommend taking the tour.just to see all the Marble & Chandlers - very Opulent.
