I LOVE our Capitol here in Charleston. It's so gorgeous inside and out. A lot of work has been put into the inside and outside decor and the landscaping is always in tip top shape. You can hold events here for absolutely free, it can hold hundreds of people and it's just an all around great experience.

Beautiful building to walk around in. Need 2 to take tour. As traveling solo given brochure to wander on own. Took time to drink in details. Ran into employee who shared a few tidbits. Marble and chandeliers great. Found Veterans Memorial on complex to be very nice.

Beautifully renovated and the grounds were also beautiful. Staff friendly and educational and the cafeteria offered a number of lunch choices and was very inexpensive.

It's built in 1932 with marble and real gold. It's beautiful and attractive. Visitors have to pay for meter parking ($0.25 for 30 minutes). I would recommend to pay for 2-3 hours parking to walk around the Capitol along with the Cultural Center.

Very beautiful state building inside and out. The parking lot is metered and difficult to find for visitors. There was no guided tour on Tuesday when we visited, which was ok. You can get a map and walk around the building yourself. Visit both the senate and house rooms. While in the area it is highly recommended to visit the... More

Very imposing building. Extremely large for the size state and population. High security present as at every other state capitol I have visited. Non-government employees must park a few blocks away but you can drive around the Capitol.

I am an American History buff. It is interesting to see our local history here in Kentucky. I would recommend visiting.

The West Virginia Capitol seems like a very large building and the real (!) gold dome is very impressive. We took a tour, which was fairly short at 30 minutes, but worth it since they seem to run very regularly. Our group was really small too.

I have visited over 30 state capitols and this one stands out in the top 5. From the awesome dome to the brilliant white marble interiors, to the crystal chandeliers, to the governor's reception room and the decorated legislative chambers and the historical displays, this was a wonderful visit. And thanks to Earlene (sp?) who was so helpful and enthusiastic... More

Everyone is pleasant in giving directions and giving the tour. Classic look for a Capitol. No one could tell us why the pattern in gold leaf was so ornate instead of solid.
