The state Capitol building in Charleston is a magnificent structure. Large expanses of marble and beautiful rotunda make this building a must see when visiting Charleston WV. It stands out in the skyline because of the gold guilded dome.

The pork sliders were delicious and the price just right. We would have liked to know that the kitchen closed at 2:00 however. We spent time in the museum at the Cultural Center and went back to the Capitol for lunch between 1:30 and 2:00. We had to hurry to be able to grab a sandwich thinking they didn't close... More

This capitol building is a beautiful structure, but our visit was disappointing. We had checked the web before we went and wanted to take one of the tours offered throughout the day. When we got there, we were informed there were no tours that day because it was Nurses Day at the capitol and it was too noisy to give... More

If you have never been in a capitol building you will enjoy it. If you have seen others I would skip it.

A magnificent 1930's structure with a commanding setting along the banks of the Kanawha River in Charleston, WV. A must see if you are in the area. One of the most impressive capitols in the US.

Situated on the banks of the Great Kananwha River there is not a more gracious place to spend a few hours to unwind from your day of travel.

The most positive aspect of my visit to the West Virginia State Capitol is that most of the "attractions" are accessible. In my opinion, the main things to see are (1) the rotunda and inner dome; (2) the Senate chamber; (3) the House chamber and (4) the Supreme Court chamber. The Governor's Reception Room is also available. All of these... More

I work in the capitol complex so I see the outside of the capitol everyday. I have been on tours with my children's classes and I always learn something new. The chandelier in the center rotunda is amazing, the ceiling detail in the upper halls has an interesting history. Worth visiting if you are in the area and can get... More
