I live near the track. Very smoke filled and never see anyone winning. We haven't. My best bet is to go when the track is running. A couple of bucks on a horse gives you a much greater chance to win. Of course, you can go inside and throw your cash into the toilet. I was at Mt. Airy casino... more
My sisters and I go to Charles Town pretty frequently. I have won a few times ($3800 and $2800). Sometimes the slots are tight. The place is usually freezing so you need to wear a little sweater or something. I love going to C/T though. We always have a good time. I see some people said that the servers were... more
I visited CTRS in June just for an overnight fun visit with a friend. I’m a little torn on my review and am trying to restrain myself from saying that the slots are “tight”. I’d love to see their pay ratio somewhere in print so that I could compare to other places and make that judgment fairly…but you can’t use... more
We live less than a mile from CTRS, and I go about once a month. I have their card and hold about 1500 points. I have not won anything to speak of in over a year. The machines are the tightest I have ever seen or played. I would reccommend Atlantic City over this place any day. The return is... more
I hit a $1,000 prize on video poker once in June 2008. After that I continued going about 3 times, and luck has been looking the other way for me continuously. I lost the 1k back, and even more. Tried the slots too. Hmm, not player friendly either. Slots are on the tight side, need to be loosened about 20%... more
This isn't a bad casino. My friends and I didn't hope to retire off our visit so we had a good time. We didn't quite get the movie theme considering the location (were there a lot of movies shot in this part of WV?). The food was pretty good and the casino was really clean. We would probably go back... more
Charlestown races need to be ashame...They are just taking people's money and not giving back anything but a headache. The attendants are rude and servers are very scarce.. Nothing like the service i got in Las Vegas a server was everywhere you turned your head and wasn't standing waiting on a tip. I have gone several times with at least $300-$500... more
Charlestown Races and Slots is a wonderful place to visit, but the slots payouts are terrible. I visited Charlestown on 6/21/08 and I saw no hand pays during my 3 hour visit. Therefore, I will not return to Charlestown until they loosen their slots. more
First of all, I am not much of a a gambler. My last gambling escapade was about 1998 when I went to Vegas - and played the slots and lost a few hundred - no big deal.......... I live in Maryland, less than 1 1/2 hrs from Charles Town. I went there on a Sunday afternoon, June 22, 2008 -... more
