We went to a Saturday nite movie for half the cost of hometime theater. It was a great date nite for our anniversary weekend getaway.

When we were planning our weekend in Berkeley Springs, we made it a point to go to the Star. It did not matter what movie was playing - we just want to be transported back into another time (about 90 years or so). The theater did not disappoint. The popcorn had real butter! This place is a treasure of our... More

Nostalgia is always playing at the Star Theater where you can get authentic old fashioned popcorn with real butter! The seats are really uncomfortable but totally worth it to experience this step back in time.

Nothing would give us more pleasure than to replace the historic seats in our vintage theater. We attended an industry conference recently to try and price USED seats and the nearly $50,000 price tag to upgrade our whole auditorium is impossible short of winning the lottery. We've already committed ourselves to working until we're 90 to pay for upgrading the... More

We still have not popped the 50 cents for the couch, but the wooden seats are not that bad at all. A movie at $4.50? Yes. Two get in for the price of one at most theaters. We were full from a great dinner at Tari's, so we did not get any popcorn, but I could tell that hubby wanted... More

Thanks! We always appreciate it when our repeat customers find the same positive experience every time. The popcorn machine takes it personally when folks don't get its product -- we can't make it understand that people eat things other than popcorn. Maybe next time. More

Jeanne and Jack recently upgraded to digital, but the couches are still available for comfy viewing. Reserve a weekend ahead to get one. Jeannie serves the best popcorn in America, and the movie doesn't start until all guests have their popcorn and are seated. They have an ecletcic selection of feature films, some a bit offbeat, but never mainstream "Cinema... More

Some upgrades are essential (going digital) but all the rest we try never to change, We love that folks enjoy the couches and the great popcorn. Thanks for being a fan. Come back again soon! More

Brought me back to years gone by. A must visit if you are in Berkeley Springs for a weekend. Regardless of the movie don't miss the opportunity to see this gem. Popcorn was really good and cheap too

Cute theater! Make sure to call and ask for the couches if you are so inclined. They take reservations for them and are a nice way to watch a movie.

We're always happy when people enjoy their "Star" experience. We need to lower expectations about the couches since there are only 3! If you know you're coming to town for a visit, book in advance. You can call the Star but only during movie hours is the phone anything but a message announcing what's playing. 304-258-1404. Or you can email... More

A really neat 1930's vintage movie theater where you can buy hot cider, Milk Duds, and great popcorn out of an 50's machine. Close to first run movies cost about $3.50 and your change is always a 50 cent coin. Some of the, when worn out, have been replaced with actual 3/4-seat couches that you can reserve for 50 cents.... We always appreciate guests who love the vintage nature of the Star. Thanks for telling all you're Trip Advisor friends. Just so no one is surprised, our ticket price is actually $4.50 but you do indeed get a 50¢ piece as change. Kids love the coins. Most have no clue what it is. But we know well that it's the... More

We got the opportunity to sneak away to the Star Theatre this weekend. We were lucky enough to get a sofa, which made us happy. The movie was very good and the popcorn is always the best. Thank you Jack & Jeanne for investing so much of your time into keeping the Star open for everyone to enjoy.

I've been a couple of times and have enjoyed the experience. I especially enjoy the cheap prices. I do not enjoy the hard seats. Bring a cushon!

You're right. The seats, like most of the theatre, are vintage dating back to the last major renovation in 1949. They are on the list to replace as soon as we pay for the huge investment required to go digital and keep the doors open. There are three couches and a pair of overstuffed chairs for 50 cents extra. They... More
