The hills of West Virginia are alive with great plays, such as "The Rocket Boys, The Wizard of Oz, The Hatfields and McCoys". Located in Grandview State Park, bring a picnic and make it a day event, shows start at dusk, Rain or shine so dress accordingly.

Wife and I (seniors) paid $54.96 online for show tickets (general admission - sit wherever) and drove to West Virginia and stayed in nearby Charleston. On afternoon of performance, rainstorms made it impossible to drive to Beckley, let alone sit there until after 8 pm to find out if show was cancelled. We called from road and said they couldn't... My wife and I saw all three of the shows that were playing. They were very entertaining. The quality of the actors and actresses were a cut above most companies. The singing and dancing was outstanding. You can learn a lot about the history of the area which is another plus. They performed "Honey in the Rock", about how West... More

My nephews (9 and 11) and I went to see the Honey in the Rock. The play was wonderful. There were a few technical difficulties, but nothing that really disrupted the play. They offered snacks at a reasonable price. The setting was wonderful, but a little scary to drive out of at night.

Little did I know that I would be amazed and entertained by this excellent show in the middle of nowhere. People come from all over the county to see this wonderful production. I will definitely go back. We saw Hatfields and Mcoys and want to return to see Honey in the Rock.

Wonderful outdoor drama/plays. At least 3 different ones and some concerts during the summers. Well worth it. The acting and environment is great for all ages. We usually go on the first night of the performances as we are local. So sometimes these nights they are still getting some of the acoustical kinks out, but they always have it worked... More

Saw the performance of Honey in the Rock. I do recommend you obtain seats as close to the stage as possible as hearing the performers can be a problem if too far away.

We came up from Charlotte, North Carolina for romantic week end. We had a excellent dinner at the Char restaurant then went to the play 'Honey In The Rock' , about the history of West Virginia . It was wonderfully written and performed . We had great time !! , and intend to return to see the' Hatfields and McCoys'.

Have been to the Cliffside Amphitheater several times and I have never been disappointed in the performances! Honey in the Rock is fun with some history. Hatfields and McCoys is a great show too! Expect drama with some comic relief and very enthusiastic performers. Have taken my niece to a performance each year for her birthday...she loved high school Musical... More
