Disclaimer - this review is only for July, not the rest of the year. I had high hopes for this garden and I totally understand this is not Rhododendron season and that it is the middle of a hot July and that it is totally run by volunteers but there was nothing remarkable about this place for the $5.00 entrance... July is obviously not the time to see Rhodos at Meerkerk Gardens. We didn't see one bloom. A lot of volunteers were weeding and trimming. This garden is set in a forest location with mostly greenery. The paths are dirt or grassy and sometimes uneven. There is a teachable area and a nursery. Classes were offered for Rhodo care. But... More

The rhododendron were pretty much done blooming during our June visit. We did enjoy our visit, venturing into the more rugged nature trails. In some spots they were pretty overgrown with ferns - which we didn't mind. Found ripe salmonberries along the way and tested those. Also saw our first banana slugs and they were about as big as our... More

We (me and my husband) made a quick trip to Whidbey Island for the afternoon and found this little gem. It's so peaceful and absolutely beautiful! Definitely want to go back and spend more time there. Would recommend it for anybody who likes nature.

Full of fabulous color and really well laid out and maintained...you've got to stop by and see this little gem. One of the highlights of a recent trip to be sure.

We were there a the very beginning of the Rhododendron season, so there weren't a lot of visitors as the garden wasn't fully in bloom. But this was a bonus in that we still got to see all the various types of Rhodies without the crowds, allowing us to take our time and enjoy the lovely garden and to take... More

Tranquil and mesmerizing. The rhododendrons just explode with colors and shapes. Overall surroundings are lush. Worth the money and time.

It was truly a wonderful experience to roam the paths of this marvelous display garden. I came in the Winter for my first time and found it lovely with views of old growth forest at almost every turn. I can't wait to return for the spring blooms of the Rhododendrons. This is a Non Profit organization run by the Seattle... More

Definitely worth the $5 admission--whether you are just visiting the area or live on Whidbey. Best time to go is Springtime (Mar-May). I believe rhodie blooming height is in April. Very well maintained, with lots of trails.

While I wasn't sure I would enjoy this stop on our trip, I was pleasantly surprised. The grounds are well kept by volunteers. The trails are very easy to navigate. They even have a meditation spot for you to take advantage of. Well worth the stop.
