Love seeing movies here. It reminds me of an art house. Staffed by many volunteers and a few employees, it feels like a family run neighborhood venue. Superb popcorn! And they now sell beer and wine on Friday and Saturday. If you purchase a membership, tickets are $2.50 off and you get a free small popcorn as well as access... More

This independent film house offers the best in films that make you think, cry, ponder, laugh, take action, or relax and enjoy. The popcorn is the best! They use real butter and either canola or coconut oil. Do yourself a favor and savor a good movie!

this is the coolest cinema i've been to in a while. it's small, with only a handful of rooms for movies, tastey snacks, and you can order wine, beer, cider, hot chocolate, coffee, etc. A lot of the movies that are played here are sundance films. Also, this place is mostly run by volunteers, and they're all very polite.

I drive 25 miles to see films at this charming venue. If you're a member, you get a discounted admission, a parking pass for a lot 1/2 block away, a small bag of popcorn with real butter, and the knowledge that you're helping to support independent film in the South Sound. I've gone with a date occasionally, with friends, and... More

The best film screenings in Tacoma are here at the Grand Cinema. No longer do Pierce County film buffs have to travel north to see the best independent films. They also make a wonderful bag of buttered popcorn.

If you are into independent, foreign or local films, this is your place. It's a little on the small and cozy size for my liking though. The seats could barely accommodate my not-so-tiny bottom. However, on the good side, the sound quality was good, screen size was adequate for the small size of the theater. The staff were friendly and... More

The Grand Cinema is an older small fourplex theater. Some of the things I really like about the theater is the thought that goes into the selection of their movies. They are not just run of the mill movies that you see anywhere. The are award winning movies from Cannes and other film festivals and very unusual films that you... More

We have been members at the Grand for several years and appreciate being able to see movies that we could not see anywhere else. Membership has many benefits and I would recommend joining if you live close enough. If you are visiting the area, a movie at the Grand will be an enjoyable experience: you will be welcomed by staff... More

The Grand is a much loved theater in the Stadium district in north Tacoma. It shows foreign, art and unique movies not available anywhere else. It also promotes local film makers' creations.

The Grand Cinema is run by volunteers and has many events throughout the year, in addition to, running popular, mainstream movies. The theater often hosts post movie discussion forums. Parking is free in a lot next to the building. The concession stand is well stocked. If you are looking for comfy seats and a huge screen, you will be disappointed.... More

Thank you very much for the positive words! We are glad to hear that you appreciate our annual events and know about our post-film discussions nearly every Saturday! We also wanted to let you know that parking next door is free each weekday, but only after 4:00 p.m. (it is free all weekend). We wouldn't want you or another patron... More
