Where else can you see seahorses and sharks, peacocks and penguins, wolves and walrus, all in one place? The 29-acre Zoo is large enough to offer an awesome array of animals yet small enough to let you get really close to them. Our keepers often roam the grounds, taking animals on strolls so you can see them up close. Who knows? You might run into a lynx on your way to see the polar bears! Be sure to visit Kids Zone. This fanciful exhibit engages children in active learning through play. The focus is on fun, movement and learning what animals need to thrive. The breathtaking views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountains are free - and so is the parking. So what are you waiting for? Bring your family to see ours. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is open at 9:30 a.m. daily. Closing times vary. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is just minutes off of I-5 in beautiful Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA. « less

Went to this zoo due to the awesome reviews. For $115 for family, I so want my money back. Most outdoor animals were not visible or gone. Indoor exhibits were difficult to maneuver due to narrow walkways. My 7 yr old son is in a small wheelchair but we struggled to have room to pass. Everything looked beautiful upon entering... More

This zoo is actually quite large for having a young toddler. We did not get through the entire zoo prior to having to leave due to naps. Luckily, we bought a year long membership. There is a great place that you can touch sting rays and there are sharks to see. We stayed for part of their show "Dr. Bones"... More

I have not been to the Point Defiance Zoo since I was a child so this was like experiencing it for the first time. What a pleasant surprise! The zoo and aquarium are on the small side, only taking a few hours to do the entire zoo, including watching one of their entertainment shows they put on, but it is... More

Smaller zoo but with some good animals - polar bear, walrus, elephant, penguins. Aquarium also small but has exhibit on the rare Chimaera shark. Zoo/Aquarium were clean. Easy to get around. Carousel.

Perfect, beautiful location. One of the best zoo's I've been to. A little pricey for 4 people, but was well worth the price. You can bring your own lunch to help make up for the admission price. Wonderfully landscaped. And how can you go wrong with the adorable polar bears! I give it 5 stars!

Love the kid zone! Little kids had a blast in the little doctor coats pretending to be vets! Animals looked well cared for and aquarium was awesome!

We visited here recently, and while the exhibits are nicely done, and the layout is very maneuverable, it's almost too small; as a family of four, we were in and out in an hour, and we weren't rushing or skipping anything (except the scheduled naturalist's talks). Albeit, it wasn't crowded at all on that particular day, but that was nice.... More

My family used to take us at Christmas. They have lights everywhere and it is very fun to walk through the displays after dark..

They have all the animals you would want to see and take good care of them. There are small critters and some peacocks that they let walk around the grounds which my daughters love. The shows are fun for the entire family. This is far better than the Seattle Aquarium.

Yes it's a zoo and aquarium in one! No lines and we used our smart phones to Purchas our tickets, so no lines. Really the only line I had to stand in was waiting for food at 1200. Every other attraction my family was able to go right up and see all the exhibits. It's an amazing place with a... More
