Owner description: Treat your family to a special day at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Where else can you see seahorses and sharks, peacocks and penguins, wolves and walrus, all in one place? The 29-acre Zoo is large enough to offer an awesome array of animals yet small enough to let you get really close to them. Our keepers often roam the grounds, taking animals on strolls so you can see them up close. Who knows? You might run into a lynx on your way to see the polar bears! Be sure to visit Kids Zone. This fanciful exhibit engages children in active learning through play. The focus is on fun, movement and learning what animals need to thrive. The breathtaking views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountains are free - and so is the parking. So what are you waiting for? Bring your family to see ours. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is open at 9:30 a.m. daily. Closing times vary. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is just minutes off of I-5 in beautiful Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA.

One of the better zoo's I've been able to visit. Very clean park with plenty to see, and do not just in the park, but in the surrounding area as well.

This is a very special place! We have been going here for years. It is great for all ages as the exhibits are very well placed and easily accessible. All of the animals are in well maintained, spacious and animal friendly 'homes'. And the care takers treat the animals like family and talk about the animals in a very personal... More

Relatively small zoo but features unique animals like red wolves, musk ox, otters, walruses and an excellent aquarium all for one admission. Grandparents pass is a real value. If we take our grandsons and their parents a total of 3 times, we are ahead.

I remember this being a good zoo. Not to big but good quality. We decided to go to this Zoo to see the holiday lights instead of Woodland Park. It was very disappointing. The lights were nice, but not really worth entrance to the zoo. There were 4 exhibits of animals. Meercats, Sealife, Camel for riding and bugs. Yep. That's... More

Took my 4-yo niece to see Zoolights last weekend and we're happy that she enjoyed some of it because the 6 adults thought it was awful. Tickets are almost $10 (you can get a discount at Fred Meyer) plus getting there & parking was a nightmare (one of the parking attendants waved us right past the lots & out towards... More

During the Christmas season the zoo fills the park with lights worth seeing, not only for the colorful trees but also for the animal animations they create. There are also real camels that you can take a picture with. Once you finish walking around in the freezing cold, you can go into the aquarium to see fish, sharks, and Santa... More

The Pt Defiance Zoo and Aquarium is a wonderful place for kids of all ages! We recently took my son & grand kids (ages 1 to 15) and found plenty to keep them all happy. My teenage son was fascinated by the sharks in the aquarium; my 8&10 year old grand kids loved the tiger cubs. My granddaughter, age 3,... More

On a cold crisp winter night we strolled through the pathways which were all lit with an abundance of color and creative cheer. Popped into the aquarium and was impressed with the staffs friendliness and knowledge of the aquatic life and it was also a nice spot to warm up. Classic decorations and fun lighted moving animal simulations with the... More

Port Defiance is set in the NW woods with a winding avenue to get there boarded by parks, walking paths, and gardens. One of the prettiest settings for a zoo that I have seen! Fun Day!! Beautiful walk while seeing the animals and gardens. Fun for kids and adults alike!

We went here to enjoy the holiday season and see an awesome display of lights. I found the display of lights to be below average. It was a nice walk but not worth the money or time. I have seen neighborhoods that look better than what was done here.
