Description: Treat your family to a special day at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Where...
Treat your family to a special day at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Where else can you see seahorses and sharks, peacocks and penguins, wolves and walrus, all in one place? The 29-acre Zoo is large enough to offer an awesome array of animals yet small enough to let you get really close to them. Our keepers often roam the grounds, taking animals on strolls so you can see them up close. Who knows? You might run into a lynx on your way to see the polar bears! Be sure to visit Kids Zone. This fanciful exhibit engages children in active learning through play. The focus is on fun, movement and learning what animals need to thrive. The breathtaking views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountains are free - and so is the parking. So what are you waiting for? Bring your family to see ours. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is open at 9:30 a.m. daily. Closing times vary. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is just minutes off of I-5 in beautiful Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA.

This zoo is the perfect size with a great variety of animals. It is laid out in a perfect loop so you can keep walking and not miss a thing! Free parking, which is always a bonus and a really affordable admission fee. Very friendly toward younger kids and the Kids Zone is like a toddler's dream come true!

This zoo is really cool! They have a large number of beautiful animals. Several are very rare and all are in very good shape. Lots of anecdotes and stories around the animals. They even have a swimming with a sharks tank. The staff is very friendly and they have playground and fun ride for the kids.

I have been a member here for two years now. It's in Tacoma close to the Ruston waterfront and University Place. This is a well thought out zoo and for the size of the city it's in it is impressive. There is a large 3 part child play area (nets and shells, a proper area with jungle gyms and slides... More

Went with another couple and mothers were 1/2 off and everyone else was $15 and it's has a lot of animals for that price. The aquarium was amazing and so were many of the other animals. Out of the animals that were there we did see 2 that were out. Gift shop is ok nothing special. But still had a... More

Small zoo with some great animals. I especially liked the Tigers and got some great pictures. Walrus were fun to watch. Great views of Mt Rainier the day I was there. The red wolf was saved due to efforts of zoo and a couple there. The artic fox were adorable. I wasn't impressed with aquarium but jellyfish are coming. Nice... More

This zoo is pretty fantastic for little kids. It has a good layout, great staff, and more than adequate selection of animals for a zoo of their size. The prices, especially with a military discount, are definitely good. The aquarium and aquatic mammal sections are exceptional. My only complaint would be the price/quality of food and drink (pretty standard park... More

It's not as extensive as some zoos I've been to, but the layout was good, with great views of the animals and not too crowded (although I went early on a weekday).

The Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium will bring you back over and over again. The natural habitats captivate your attention. The seals, walruses, and sea otters are my favorites.

Got a membership from my mother for Christmas this past year, and we have been enjoying it. The zoo isn't as big as some others (much smaller than Portland), but it makes up for it by carrying many more local animals as well as just animals that aren't normally carried. The staff (and small size of the zoo) make the... More

I love going to this zoo. There are so many animals and a lot of diversity. My favorite animal there is the polar bear. I really think you should go of you have an extra day in Tacoma.
