This was my first time at the Washington State History Museum and I was impressed. It is nicely organized and had two full floors of displays. One floor is mostly geared toward children. There were several school field trips there when we were there. So if you want to avoid large groups of children, any time other than early June... More

I would say go to this. I am a lover of history of anything. they have a lot of good history from the iceage and to the mordon time. To be able to see things that have shaped Washington in to the place it is today and how much the state and people of this state has played in the... More

Our extended family often takes advantage of the free 3rd Thursday of the month evening entrance to this museum from 5-8 PM. If you have a Bank of America card, you may enter the museum for free on the first weekend of the month. We enjoy the featured museum exhibit that has a display for about 4-6 months. Lots of... My wife and I visited the Washington State Museum as we enjoy state museums. Nicely laid out with well done displays. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The cost is reasonable and it is well worth spending several hours seeing this museum.

I visited the museum last Thursday which was the third Thursday of the month which meant that it was free admission for 2:00 pm on. I enjoyed the museum very much and especially liked the Civil Way Pathway which dealt with how the Civil War effected the Pacific Northwest. The other interesting exhibit concerned David Douglas and his adventures as... More

I showed up at 430 pm and they closed at 5, the young lady didn't charge me admission, and while I had to hurry, I got to see the whole museum, it was really interesting. All the employees were helpful and the exhibits were well done.

I recently saw the Northwest Natives exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. While a top notch museum in General, the NYC museum could--and probably does--covet this detailed and superbly laid out exhibition. From the lifestyle and authentic artifacts of the ancient Salish peoples, to the initial interactions between tribes and Captain Grey, then the... More

Always worth the trip from Seattle for an interactive history immersion! We loved the model train and Cooper exhibits, which recently closed. "Cooper" was skillfully curated to give you a detailed insight into air travel at that time, not just the NW Airlines hijacking event. The model train exhibit was displayed in several galleries, featuring a variety of train scales... More

This is a very nice museum with lots to explore and plenty of hands on things for kids. We also went during the train expo which was an added bonus.
