We have lived here in Spokane and finally made it up there last month. It is a pleasant drive on a very nice road. There was not a lot of traffic and you are limited in a vehicle as to how far you can go. The views are amazing and you can see many lakes from the top. You do... More

We camped overnight and were the only ones there. The washrooms were clean and well lit. We took a hike and ran into moose! Didn't expect that. We checked out quite a few trails and they are all nicely marked. Visiting the summit and Vista Lodge are a must. We'll be back soon.

You have to have a pass to access the mountain as it's federal land. You can get a pass in advance or purchase a day pass. Cash only if there is no attendant which was the case on my visit. Nice drive there from Spokane. Road is in excellent condition. Nice views along the way including wildlife. I saw some... More

Take the time to visit the Vista House on top of the mountain. It's an easy walk from the parking and offers spectacular views. Bring dramamine for people prone to motion sickness on the drive back down.

We were visiting Spokane on vacation and went to Mt. Spokane one day. We stopped at the ranger station to get a recommendation for a hike and pay the fee to enter (it's a discover pass park). The ranger told us to hike to the tope of Mt. Kit Carson. It was approximately 2-3 miles to the top and the... More

We enjoyed a May hike on Mt Spokane. We had a visitor from Australia with us and she was thrilled with her first experience seeing and walking in snow. The snow was still quite deep in some places, but usually firm enough to walk on (although we all did experience finding ourselves suddenly thigh deep in snow). Keep in mind... More

We drove through this park and stopped to have a picnic lunch. We were so grateful that the termperature was 20 degrees cooler than the 94 we left in the valley. The picnic area was clean and neat. The bathroom was the cleanest and freshest I have ever seen in any state park. We look forward to doing some hiking... More

Since late fall my Wednesday morning hiking group has been going elsewhere due to snow and weather, but yesterday with blue skies and temps in 70's we drove up Mt Spokane Day road, past ranger station up to the "Big Switchback" (elev 3900 ft), and parked there (you need a pass - the ranger does patrol). Crossed road and pass... More

It is a trek to Mount Spokane from Spokane - but it is well worth the beauty you will discover there. The trip itself is various and lovely - from the farming flatlands to the foothills is a great contrast. Then, riding upward along a gently curving road, into the stands of tall pines to the summit itself. The views... More
