We use to live there...so we are prejudiced.. Wonderful area for walking. Many parks. (check out Manito...it's a gem) Many lovely period homes...gorgeous old trees..lush lawns and gardens. Some excellent restaurants on the main thoroughfares.Check out St. John's cathedral(.Gothic architecture).Wish we still lived there.
The South Hill is interesting it has some beautiful places and some sketchy places but when you hit the beautiful places man is it worth it.
As a north side resident, I find the south hill impassable and remote. Travel during the snows at your own RISK!
If you are into varied styles of architecture you may enjoy driving around this area of Spokane. There are some areas for photos ops so come with your camera.
This is a great neighborhood. There is something very wonderful about this community. It definitely FEELS like a community, where people know each other and hang out at the Starbucks and say hello to each other at the Albertson's. We have lived in this area for 19 years. We have fantastic neighbors who truly watch out for each other. There is an abundance of parent involvement at the schools. I do the majority of our family's shopping with a 5 or 6 miles radius, meaning there are plenty of shopping options close by.
We had fun driving around and checking things out. Visit Huckleberry Organic market, Manito Park. Have coffee at Tullys.
I loved the turn of the century homes and old neighborhoods.
We loved the older, tree lined streets and stunning older homes. The neighborhood is well maintained and well serviced by city bus.
Great food fun atmosphere good service decent prices nothing fancy but comfortable would recommend for good pub food
