We took an afternoon trip from Port Townsend and weren't disappointed. The boat wasn't full, which meant that we were able to stretch out in the cabin and get a good view from the rails when outside. It is about a 90 minute trip to the San Juan islands where we were able to spend around an hour watching Orcas... More

It was great. We had tight avail times. They were able to get us on with little notice. We had a beautiful day. We did not see the orcs whales but did see minke whales. You never know where the whales are as they are wild. It was a great day. Friday harbor was beautiful. We met great people and... More

The full-day whale-watching trip with Puget Sound Express far exceeded my expectations. Despite the drizzly weather in the morning, the captain and crew welcomed us on board and made us feel comfortable right away. We got a cup of coffee and a piece of blueberry buckle as soon as we departed from shore. Delicious! There were snacks available throughout the... More

WHAT A TRIP! Words can't describe seeing the magnificent Orca. We were so fortunate to see 2 of the 4 babies born this year and J2 the matriarch born in 1911. I've been on Puget Sound Express sailing out of Port Townsend but this time took the one out of Edmonds ... You can't go wrong with either trip. I... More

The excursion from Port Edmonds to the San Juan island is a four hour long outing in a high speed - in excess of 30 knots ph - passenger boat. The time devoted to actual whale watching at the island was about 45 minutes before the boat headed back to Port Edmonds. Thus 80% of the outing (and so 80%... More

They advertise heavily that you will see orcas on your trip. We did not! We barely saw 2 humpback whale fins swimming around for about 30 minutes during our 4 hour boat trip and that was it! Enough for them to meet their guarantee that you will see whales. I cannot believe I paid $100 a person to see that.... More

I learned a lot from Roger, the Naturalist, and the guides from the marine science center. We saw seals, many bird types and learned about the geology and history of the area . I would definitely recommend this to others wanting to experience the northwest.

While staying in Port Townsend for a wedding, I booked the 1/2 day whale watching tour with Puget Sound Express. The captain and crew were all professional, welcoming, and knowledgeable; our boat "The Redhead" was clean and well kept. Now - on to the whales! What a day - we saw multiple whales with many of them breaching, a couple... More

Our tour began at 9, with a ride directly to the San Juan Islands. Here we had 2 short hours to eat and explore Friday Harbor. A bit longer would have been nice. Back on the boat and now you should position yourself for seeing the orcas who live in the area. We saw a couple but couldn't get close... More

We had been planning this trip for over 6 months with the hopes of getting to see tufted puffins. We arrived to Puget Sound Express early and were warmly greeted and directed where and when to meet the captain. The boat was called the Glacier Express and had ample seating for all aboard. It was assigned seating so boarding went... More
