grandkids loved it

The spooky jail and the firehouse in the basement were the big hit with the grandkids, also the toy corner with old toys they could play with and hats to try on.

Setting is beautiful, but does not have as many exhibits as it seems there could/should be. Beautiful large old courtroom is presently filled with paintings; large open space that could/should show more local history. We've visited small local history museums all over the country and while this one has perfect location and beautiful building, it is short on history.

This society does a great job with their collection. If you like Victorian art, furniture, etc and Maritime, sea collections, this is the place to go. Even toddler can enjoy visiting

We met Sam who had lots of stories about Port Townsend and the area. Really nice little museum. Like their sign says, "a creepy jail" that will trill the kids.

It's a little hard to find, but make the effort! It's not the fancy County Courthouse - the museum is in a rather plain square brick building right near the water. The entrance fee is $5 each. We started in the film room. We sort of half paid attention to the film but what interested us the most were the... More

The museum and docent were full of information we couldn't find anywhere else. I appreciate the town so much more after our visit.

Humble and illuminating, this small museum starts with a short film about the history and spirit of the area. The exhibits give an excellent feel for what the area was like when settled, the different populations, and the drama of living in a not-that-long bygone time.

The best part of the tour was the film that they start you out with. It is on the history of the town interspersed with current day town folk as to why they moved to Port Townsend. They had some artifacts and timelines that were very interesting. Give it a try it's on $4.

While walking around Port Townsend, we decided to take a trip inside this building to see what they had to share with us. For a small fee, we were given a map and told what the different areas of the building contained. We started out in a small theater, but chose not to watch the 10 minute film, as we... More
