On a recent visit to Port Townsend, WA we had the pleasure of attending a movie at The Starlight Room above The Silverwater which is right next door to The Rose Theatre. It's a cozy small venue with couches, loveseats and small tables. They have a full bar and menu to order food (delish!) I love having a cocktail while... More

We love the Rose. Although it's a 40 min drive away, we often make the trip because we enjoy the film selection, the complete lack of ads prior to the films, the personal introduction to the films and the whole atmosphere of the Rose and Rosebud theaters. However, after one visit to the Starlight Room - we were underwhelmed. The... More

It's not everywhere that before the movie starts, someone from the Theatre gives a short speech about the movie that's showing. This is a beautifully-restored movie theatre. The popcorn is delicious, too!

To come to PT and not go to the Rose is missing a real treasure. The movies are top quality … many indies … and thoughtfully picked by Rocky, the owner. Each movie is preceded by an introduction during which the charming "announcer" shares some interesting aspect of the film, cast or the director. Then everyone claps! The Starlight Room... More

Watched How to Train your Dragon 2. Staff did a personal introduction and trivia before the show that kids and parents enjoyed!

Attended a jazz performance there and barely made it through the first set. Very strong odor of cigarette smoke and mustiness. Nice ambiance and cute setting but, ugh on odors.

The downstairs theatres are well done and comfortable. The selections are excellent. The Starlight Room (upstairs) has possibly the most uncomfortable seating ever provided by a theatre anywhere in the universe. The food there is terrible. So, avoid the Starlight Room no matter what's playing there and no matter how attractive the adult venue sounds. Stick to the tried and... More

The June 13th review is right on - exactly what we experience. Would go there again on next visit to PT.

Coming to the Starlight Room was an elevated experience. The venue is small and intimate. You sit in occasional chairs or on couches to watch the movie. There are coffee and end tables. Very comfy! They even have throws in case you get cool. Just before you enter the theater room there is a "snack bar" which serves many gourmet items... More

As we were having dinner across the street, we noticed the Rose Theatre. Port Townsend is a small town, so we didn't expect much from the local theatre. We decided to try it out, and it was a fabulous surprise! They seem to show mostly indie films, and an employee comes out before the movie begins and gives a synopsis... More
