We love taking the kids to visit when we are in town. In summer, the kids like to hit the beach after we explore the bunkers and hike. The little store by the beach has some pretty good food. My fish tacos were surprisingly good. The restroom facilities are nice for a campground, and the outdoor showers were great for... More

Awesome park with lots of trails for hiking and running, bunkers for exploring (and scaring people), camping, beachfront, playing fields, and lots of paved areas for biking. I've seen eagles, deer, coyotes, rabbits, herons, and many other animals there. All ages can find something enjoyable.

We were on our last day on the area and decided on a trip to Fort Worden so that we could collect sea glass to bring home with us. We parked outside the artillery gate and hiked through for a little while. We explored gun batteries and admired the views of the ocean. We enjoyed fresh air and cool breezes.... More

This old coastal artillery fort has been transformed into a beautiful park and is perfect for families or people who just want a beautiful place to relax and look out over the sea. Music and art festivals and workshops are conducted here during the year with lodging available on the grounds.

I believe this is a must see when you're in Port Townsend. Very interesting military history, hiking trails what are well marked and safe, beautiful trees, and while we were there in July there was great jazz music being played in an open field on the premise. Puget Sounds shoreline runs next Fort Worden so if you have the energy... More

Fort Worden State Park is a jewel! It is located at the very north end of Quimper Peninsula... the name of the Peninsula that includes Port Townsend, WA. It is where the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman" was filmed in 1982 (featuring Richard Gere). The Fort area includes a big parade ground, many historic buildings, several wonderful museums, spectacular... More

This state part has a lot to see. We received massages on site at the Madrona Mind Body Institute. We walked around the fort and viewed historic buildings. We soaked in an excellent view of the Sound. Then, we went to the other side of the park. We strolled the beach to an old lighthouse, we walked on a bluff... More

This is an old army coast artillery base that has been converted to a tourist destination. You can actually rent officers quarters or barracks. There is a lighthouse, aquarium, RV park and camp grounds, a couple of military musuems, and beautiful grounds. Plus the beach loop by off the return drive to the lighthouse is the best place to watch... More
