How many governors allow their home, while they are living there, but open to tourists? I doubt there are many. But here in Washington the Governor's Mansion is open and there is no cost for the tour. Based on a number of the items on display, this is really someone's home and is lived in. So it was interesting to... More

I enjoyed this tour. It was great to get to view the interior of the mansion, and the gardens were beautiful, too. Worth visitng!

I took my family to this tour after a colleague told me about it. It’s scheduled only on Wednesdays and only through reservation, so I booked in advance. The whole thing takes about an hour and is free of cost. The guides are all volunteers but are quite knowledgeable. The tour took us through two floors and we were briefed... More

This is a great tour of the Governor's Mansion by seniors who volunteer at the mansion. To take a tour group, you need lots of advance planning and to submit all of your information in advance (I think they do background checks) - there are many rules on what you can bring. I did this tour in 2010 with a... More

Perhaps, just PERHAPS, those who are 'HIRED' to do a specific job for WE the PEOPLE, should adhere to the desires, needs, wants ... of not only the 'needy' (let the private sector care for THEM), but PRIMARILY for THOSE who are CHARGED by same to PAY THE BILLS!!! The current 'elitist' residing at OUR (read that, the TAXPAYERS) expense,... More

We just did the tour and really enjoyed it. It's a beautiful building on wonderful grounds. The exterior of the mansion is something to see and then to glimpse the history from inside is just a treat. We felt honored to be there.

We booked a large party to tour the mansion during the holiday season. It's nice to see that this historic building has been preserved! Recommeded, especially for children so you can throw in a lesson about government.

Having been born and raised in Olympia, it's easy to overlook local tourist attractions. I thought it would be good for the kids (ages 10, 13 and 14) and me to experience this tour. Scheduling a tour was simple. Tours are offered on Wednesdays, and you can schedule it via email: tours@des.wa.gov. All people over the age of 18 are... More

The tour was well done by some very nice volunteers of the Governor's Mansion Foundation. The tour consists of most of the mansion besides the Governor's private quarters. It includes a lot of history from former Governors as well as the current Governor. It is a great way to complete a tour of the Capitol. Tours need to be scheduled... More

The mansion tour is only available on Wednesday and is by reservation only. The mansion itself is probably smaller than other governor mansions, however, it is very inviting. The tour is conducted by women who volunteer for the mansion historical foundation. Several guides take you through the tour as they all seem to specialize in the history of particular rooms....
