The Capitol is one of my favorite places to take out of town guests! We live in Olympia and visit often. The Washington State Capitol Campus is beautiful. The Legislative Building, which is the center piece of the campus, has the tallest self-supporting masonry dome in the U.S. at 287 feet (87 m.) tall. The interior marble is gorgeous light... More

State Capitol is a decent place to visit, and you will feel free in there. There are guided tours for free, and the staff will lead you to different rooms that hold meetings by government - even weekends.

We attended a free guided tour of the State Capitol It was very informative and educational. This is an incredible building. The marble is stunning and must be seen. The furnishings are impressive. Take the time to attend this attraction. You won't be disappointed.

It was a beautiful sunny day and I decided to drive to the capital to walk around and check out all the statues and fountains. I have been in the Capitol Building a few times (even thought about getting married there) and the Hall of Justice (my favorite building name of all time) but walking around the grounds is a... Thoroughly enjoyed several hours touring the capitol and it's grounds with the adjoining government buildings in a campus atmosphere. Definitely take a guided tour of the main building. Parking wasn't a problem and access is quick from the interstate.

The statues on the property were amazing and towers over you.. the building designs are just jaw dropping because of the size. Was able to... More

We turned up here today without having done any research and were really surprised to find the entire capitol comes to be very grand and beautifully designed - think Grecian temples among parkland. Built 1922-1928 they used lots of marble inside and Washington sandstone for the outside. It's very grand in scale and beautiful inside. We were surprised to be... More

The Washington State Capital Building at Olympia is startlingly beautiful. The guided tour was full of details which one can like or dislike, but the real bonus was the extensive and soaring use of marble inside -- really quite remarkable in its height and beauty -- and the terrific collection of Tiffany chandeliers and lamps which grace all the rooms....
