This is an excellent place it visit. This building has the fifth largest dome in the world and is beautiful. There is a lot of history in this building and the different types of marble are special and have historic value. They were originally brought to this country as ballast in ships. The tour of the capitol is interesting and... More

This is a nice place to hang out. One can tour the Legislative buildings and Capitol grounds or just sit out by the "Tivoli" fountain with a sandwich from Meconi's. A nice calm day.

We recently visited the Capitol Building to attend a Fallen Firefighter Memorial. The building and grounds are amazing. Although we didn't get a chance to do much exploring, what we did see was just beautiful. We hope to get back again soon to get a chance to take a thorough tour.

We stopped here to see the sites. Then found at the info center all the buildings on the campus that have a squished penny machine. There are four machines with four designs each. If you can't get to all of them then the gift shop has some already made and you can buy them all there. The buildings were great... More

It was a great way to celebrate this day in the Capital of Washington State. Being it was a holiday we didn't have to pay for parking and got a great spot near the steps.

Trip to Olympia great. I had to drive a long ways down Capitol Blvd to find a gas station. I wouldn't stay at The Govenor hotel again.

What a beautiful Capitol! Set aside an hour for a guided tour by a knowledgeable docent. The history, architecture, statuary, and artifacts are fascinating.

I stumbled into the town of Olympia searching for food which is on our path to the Seattle airport from Quinault after wrapping up the Olympic National Park tour. Many restaurants show up and it turned out Olympia is also the capital of Washington. So why not stop by and have a look. The information center has a map that... More

When driving on US Interstate 5 north from Portland, Oregon, to Seattle, Washington, one passes the Washington State capitol on the left. The dome, visible from the freeway, is a fitting copy of the US Capitol dome in Washington, DC. Should one chose to exit the freeway and tour the capital campus, the buildings open to the public are quite... More
