Judy and Don have truely made this a terrific stop on any trip to the Lake Clean area. The tasty room is small and cozy and the staff is always knowledgeable. The wine maker and her husband are often found behind the tasting room bar and add great color commentary on the wine. Judy's 2006 Cab Franc is outstanding. There... more

I visited this lovely winery in June after participating in the Cycle de Vine, a 30-mile bike ride spot-lighting wineries in the Lake Chelan area. Judy was hosting the wine tasting, featuring their Edelzwicker, Pinot Noir Rose and their award-winning Zinfandel, which definitely lives up to the hype. I was so taken by their wines, that I left with 2... more

We spent a Saturday in March 2009 helping Don & Judy at Hard Row to Hoe do some spring trimming on the Cab Frac vines. Good thing the darn vines grow like a weed, otherwise we might not be able to enjoy the fruits of our labor. What a fun experience, and educational. After a couple hours of "hard manual... more

Hard Row to Hoe is an absolutely charming spot for wine tasting in the Chelan/Manson area! A very personable woman winemaker and cute little shop make this winery unique, but it's the wine that will make the experience truly memorable. I went recently with a group of girlfriends and we had a great time talking with winemaker Judy Phelps, who... more

After many year's and many visits to Chelan / Manson's wineries. I can honestly say that Hard Row To Hoe topped every one. The moment you walk in the door you are greeted and treated with experience and excellence, and a genuine friendly attitude. Tasting some of the finest wine i ever had. They're cab-franc was fantastic! I did'nt think... more

We first visited this winery last summer (08) and Don spent a lot of time welcoming us and explaining the wine. We returned last Fall and again in February. Each visit is truly a pleasure from the wine to the view to the pleasant atmosphere. more

My fiance and I brought four other people with us and we loved it! We went up for the fire and ice festival in January. While we were there they let us taste two wines out of the steel tanks. One was a rose that was AMAZING...They said it should be released in April and we plan to go back... more

My husband and I recently went wine tasting in the Lake Chelan area. With many great winerys to choose from, we were most impressed with Hard Row to Hoe vineyards. We were greated by Don, the owner, in a very cozy tasting room. After tasting through the open wines of the day, all of which were wonderful, Don took my... more

I have made Balsamroot/Hard Row to Hoe Winery the last stop on my wine tour in Chelan for the last few years and it never disappoints. Judy and Don are extremely gracious and make me feel as though I am part of their wonderful winery. Their wines are fabulous and I always come away learning something new. Last night I... more
