This red metal arched bridge - along with the picturesque waterfront - is the most notable icon in the pretty town of La Conner. Attached photo taken from the Channel Lodge shows both. Posters have mentioned driving, walking, and canoeing under the bridge, but I suggest you try cycling over and under it. The route to it through neighborhoods and... More

I both drove over it and kayaked under it. It is a pretty bridge and offers a nice view of LaConner but it is not something I would consider an attraction. It just happens to be a cool part of LaConner :)

It is a nice looking bridge which is seen from any part of the La Conner waterfront. It is lucky for La Conner that it is pleasing to the eye since it is a dominate feature.

visually it is a very cool looking bridge surrounded by a park on the city side of the bridge. Underneath the bridge is an area to lauch a boat but watch out for the current.

Nice bridge for picture taking. But I really cant say it was worth the trip to just see it. Nice to say yes, I've been there and done that.

But the first of its design, so many bridges in the Northwest that came later are based on its design. The views from the bridge are pretty spectacular.

Rainbow Bridge connects Fidalgo Island and La Conner, crossing Swinomish Channel in Skagit County, Washington. If you are visiting the area (and you should) take a walk across the bridge for a great vantage point to see the town of LaConner in one direction then turn around to see the community of Shelter Bay.

Drove over the bridge and a loop back around to Hwy 20. Nice drive through the trees. Good view of LaConner.

La Conner can be difficult to get to as the normal roads are often busy. If you take Reservation road south off SR20 you get to La Conner on a lightly traveled road -- bonus is the great scenery on the way including the rainbow bridge. This is also a great way to access the tulip fields/festival from Whidbey Island... More
