Located in the middle of the Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility, the Renewable Energy Center allows visitors to see how the energy of the wind and sun are turned into electricity. Displays in the exhibit area highlight wind and solar technology, as well as the area’s unique natural history. Set high on a ridge above the Kittitas Valley, Puget Sound Energy's Renewable Energy Center offers up-close views of the wind turbines and solar arrays, local wildlife, and the Cascade mountain range. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily from April through November, weather permitting. A conference room accommodating 48 people and a kitchen area are available for group use. Presentations and tours can be arranged in advance for larger groups. Daily tours to the base of the turbines are offered at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

This center is in a relatively isolated location but well worth the drive. The guide we had was fantastic. There are many interesting exhibits & films in the visitor center. The tour includes going inside one of the wind turbines & hearing an explanation of how it works. The view from the center is wonderful, too. At more than 3,000... More

Visiting the Wild Horse Renewable Energy Center is dang cool. There is a great visitors center with tons of info on wind and solar energy. There are free informational tours where you get up close and personal with the parts of the wind turbines. You get to see and touch the generator and blade and even go inside an operating... More

Fantastic scenery, the building would be a great place for a wedding reception or other gathering. Could be great hunting farther in.

We enjoyed our visit. It's fun to see the windmills (turbines?) up close. The visitor's center is educational, and they offer tours so you can learn and see even more. It's several miles out of Ellensburg, but worth the trip.

This is a very informative and awesome place to learn about wind energy. They will answer all your questions with honesty and integrity! It is also a wonderful place to host a business meeting and very accommodating.

We had never been to see a wind farm before. We had a guided tour and got to go inside one of the bases. Our guide explained how the energy is made and transmitted, the cost involved, and answered all of our questions. It was very, very interesting. Of course, I knew nothing about it before. There was no charge... More

Excellent tour of the power wind mills and great explanation of the operation. Passed many wind farms in my travels and really appreciated getting "up close' - Actually, inside a wind mill. Ver appropriate for teens on up.

I went up there with my family since we needed to kill a couple hours and did not expect much, but I was surprised. The view up there is amazing especially towards the Columbia valley and I could get my kids interested into renewable energy and why this is so important for our future. They had a lot of questions... More

I'm an engineer so it might have been much more fun and interesting to me, but my wife loved it too. Although there are some good exhibits inside, I recommend you get there in time for a tour. It's a short tour, but the coolest part is getting to go inside one of the towers. You don't get to climb... More

We visited the wind farm on a warm day when smoke lingered from fires further away. This meant we couldn't walk to the turbine but were able to go down in our cars. This facility conducts free tours and we were very impressed with the enthusiasm and knowledge of our guide Caleb. While the tour itself doesn't take that long... More
