In all our travels in the San Juans in Oct., Sucia Island was our favorite. Our boat was anchored in Echo bay, we struck out from there and hiked in the park doing the 6 mi. end to end trail. This hike being moderately strenuous afforded the hiker countless coastal and inward views. Many species of birds along with sightings... More

Be sure to visit Sucia!! We sailed there and anchored in the larger harbor and actually spent a very rainy day tucked in. There are wonderful trails to walk so you can stretch your legs after being on a sailboat.

I was just out to Sucia last weekend, and it was FABULOUS. It is my favorite place in the world. Every well maintained trail has outstanding views, and the composting toilets are a huge improvement over the old outhouses. We went out with a charter service from Orcas Island, and were dropped off at the Sucia dock, and picked up... More

Boaters kind of founded and love Sucia, Kayakers love it, and it is an absolutely wonderful and astounding hike. You can hike a the entire island in one day and you will never forget it.

Or for group stopped here for a picnic lunch, while on our cruise with San Juan Cruises, and I think it's paradise found. The walking trails are easy and interesting. The harbour is just full of boats, we saw 3 otter' s playing and feeding on the shore. Sure hope I get a chance to come back here!!!!

Accessible only by private boat (or charter), Sucia Island is worth the trip! We departed from Roche Harbor and enjoyed a gorgeous boat ride up to Sucia. I think it took a little more than an hour. If the dock is full (and it usually is) you will need a dinghy to get you back and forth between your boat... More

If you are on beautiful Orcas Island and have a day to explore the Washington State Marine Parks, Sucia Island is a gorgeous island to sail or motor into. It has a lovely coastline and lots of hiking trails. We hired Capt. Robin from Cruise Control to take us to three islands--Matia, Sucia and Patos. They all have a unique... More

We used the charter service in Eastsound (on Northside) to go to Sucia Island. We also rented the kayaks we needed (3), plus took 1 of our own. We had a fabulous paddle, mostly easy-going but also had the adventure of carrying our kayaks over land to circumnavigate the island. Bringing our lunch & drinks all added up to one... More

If you are into taking your boat out for a weekend and living out of the boat or camping on shore this is a nice place to do it. The island has several hiking trails, nice places to kayak, and plenty of restrooms on shore. Make sure you take enough supplies to last you throughout your trip as resources are... More

Great place to visit by boat. Access to Island by boat only. Great hiking on Island and crabbing in anchorages. We stayed in Fossil Bay on mooring buoy. Very scenic, but can very windy in fossil bay when se winds pick up.
