One of the great places to visit, especially if you need a break on a long drive. New books, old books, coffee, tea, things to nibble on. Three full levels of books in a cozy, comfy atmosphere with great chairs to sit and read a while. The kind of place book livers dream of. You can spend all day or... More

I received a book for Christmas from Village Books. 13 of of the pages were not cut properly at the publishers. I tried to take the defective book back today for a cash refund and they wouldn't do it. They wanted to do store credit or charge it back to the person's credit card who purchased it. It was my... Very nice bookstore in the middle of charming Fairhaven district. I loved the wooden stairs, floors, and brick walls. It's also great that they sell both new and used books. My sisters and I enjoyed browsing through the book selections and ended up buying one about the Louvre museum. Beautiful!

This bookstore is a treasure. Not only are they an independently owned bookstore, but they encompass the heart and soul of the Fairhaven district in Bellingham. Their selection of books is extensive, their staff is knowledgeable, and it's just comfortable to browse through their store. Their building is modern and full of light while also incorporating vintage aspects of the... More

This is a fantastic store! We couldn't browse long and had to make our selections quickly to catch our shuttle and ferry ... which is where the superb customer service comes in! My daughter wanted a specific book and we were accompanied right to it, saving us precious time. Would love to return and spend hours perusing the selections and... More

Beautiful layout and great atmosphere--well-lit, high ceilings, and exposed brick walls, you could lose yourself browsing in your favorite section at Village Books. Their third-floor cafe has a gorgeous sunset view. Owners Chuck and Dee Robinson are actively involved in great community organizations like the Whatcom Literacy Council, which is just another reason to support this terrific Fairhaven/Bellingham institution.

My first discovery of what a 'real' bookstore can be occurred in the mid-'60's (the "Dark Ages" as my children refer to them!) at the Chinook Bookstore in Colorado Springs. If my schedule allowed, and I was free after Saturday morning classes at The Colorado College, I would walk the 20+ blocks through the old 'Springs" to curl up in... More

You can tell the people at this bookstore love books and authors. They promote authors with regular appearances and book signings. The reader's advisory -- I was looking for specific types of books that involved finding new authors -- was outstanding. Based on the books that I purchased and have subsequently read, their recommendations were right on target. Not to... More

Good selections, large availability. Staff helpful but not very "friendly". Layout a bit confusing. Finding bargains is rather easy, but the categories are hard to find sometimes.

Went to Fairhaven with the 4yr old in tow. Village Books has been a great local go to place to get a book or gift certificate for a gift for a friend or family member. This time we stopped in to look at the children's books. Sat and read a few and purchased a couple new books for the kid.... More
