I would probably move to Bellingham just to be able to frequent an independent bookstore like this one. Nestled on a hillside in Fairhaven, this gem offers three floors of books by local authors, gifts for everyone and an amazing ambiance. Climb three flights of old carved wooden stairs to the very top to enjoy a coffee or sneak around... More

With an hour or so to wait before boarding the Alaska State Ferry, we wandered up to Fairhaven, and into Village Books. What a wonderful independent bookstore, and so worth the stroll! If you're in need of reading material for the voyage, or for any old reason, Village Books is definitely worth a stop - one of the best things... More

Love the atmosphere of this bookstore... friendly people but not overly annoying smothering feel... you can hang out on 2nd floor eating snd reading watching the beautiful water in the bay....

This place is the hub of Fairhaven, the little village on the southside of Bellingham. It has a fabulous collection of books, both old and new, and highlights books by local and independent authors. It also has a nice coffee bar and lunch area upstairs, and is adjacent to a wonderful card and gift shop. Definitely not to be missed... More

When is a bookstore NOT a delight?! This one was especially fun to visit, and I found a whole section on local (Pacific Northwest) topics. I also found a novel I was looking for and more helpful knitting books than I could ever afford. We enjoyed browsing then relaxing in the grassy square outside the store for a bit of... More

Have always treasured bookshops....and discovering this gem of an independent bookstore nestled within the village of Fairhaven, was serendipity. Village Books is spread over three wonderful floors, accessible by a beautiful curving staircase. When I entered, at ground level, I discovered a "help desk" and was promptly led to the shelves I requested. All I can say is wow, and... More

This bookstore is actually in Fairhaven, the town (or maybe townlet?) just south of Bellingham, but anyway, I suppose visitors coming in will get the general idea. VB not only has a wide selection of new and used books, but also sports a café upstairs (there's sometimes live music there too!), sponsors book-reading and writers' groups, undertakes publication of small-run... WOW! As an avid reader of all kinds of books, I loved finding this bookshop online when planning my vacation to Washington! It was very impressive when we got there! i could've spent all day there, but we still had other places to go check out! Still I bought a lot of books and cards and other stuff. Not disappointed...
