Very dog friendly park with paved path along the waterfront. If you hear the sea lions barking out at the end of the dock just outside the park, walk out on the dock and you may get an opportunity to get a close up encounter with sea lions in the wild (they hang around because of the fish hatchery off... Scenic, historic and interesting. It would be good to go to local library or internet to read up in advance of visit. There are remains of old bunkers from WWII. Some officers' quarters...and a few small bungalows exist. On same day, you may want to visit Port Blakely which once was home of world's largest lumberyard. Hall's Brothers' Shipyard also... More

This is a large park on Puget Sound with awesome views and wonderful trails. There is a great great beach and two picnic areas.Some of the old bunkers from the old fort are great fun for kids to explore. More

Old cannon emplacements, Historical buildings everywhere, incredible views of the Sound and Mountains, what else do you want. Original coastal defense location for the US about the turn of the century. Beautiful beaches and a fantastic place to hike or bike around in. They filmed "An Officer and Gentleman" here, still have the hanger where the fight seen was shot.... More
