Leelsylvania State Park isn't huge, but it is big enough to have a whole range of attractions. A boat ramp, hiking trails, nature center, fishing areas, and a pier are just some of the things here. If you're looking for a quick getaway from the crowded parts of the suburbs, this is easy to access and has plenty to do.... More

For having such a long coastline along the Potomac, Prince William County for years had little access to the River. Leesylvania goes a long way now in making that up. When we've visited, it's been fairly uncrowded, which is nice in increasingly crowded NOVA. Lots of picnic tables and walking trails are the attractions for us. Also, this is an... More

We enjoyed Leesylvania State Park as we were visiting the area and it was nice to take a break to walk around. We noticed it was very crowded by the river and there were a lot of families around one area. We walked along the river and got to enjoy a bit of nature.

We love to take our dog for a swim at this park. The water and beach are clean. Picnic tables are in the shade and the breeze is lovely. We also like to go in the winter and sit by the fire. If you like to walk there is a trail that goes through the wood, lots of history too.

Not sure it's really a hideaway, but it's not obviously known. It stretches along the river. What we like is that there are very many grills and picnic tables in the trees, well spaced, well cleaned up, trash cans all around, and all are near-ish the river. There's a modest playground for the kids, a fishing pier, some pavilions to... More

This state park is located on the Potomac River. The scenery there is wonderful. There are hiking trails and especially "Fit Hiking Trail" that you can stop at various points on the trail and follow the directions for stretching, and other exercise activities along the trail. You can put in your own watercraft or rent one. This place is well... More

Accidentally stumbled across this gem when I went exploring last week. Was so surprised to find such a beautiful location 10 minutes from my home. There is a visitor center, store, picnic area, amphitheater, boat launch and lots of hiking trails. I look forward to coming back and doing some of the hikes. There are a few historical areas too... We brought our lunch and ate near the playground (where you can also see the water and watch the boats). Then we kicked off our shoes on the beach and jumped in. My kids have been begging to go to the beach and this is the most cost effective way to please them and spend that day off work instead... More

There are great views at the waterfront, nice relaxing picnic eating areas and it's a great place to spot birds. We recently kayaked out of this park with a group of friends and had a wonderful paddle. We have also used the picnic areas in the past. We always enjoy this park. It's popular.

We head over to Leesylvania at least once a month or so to do a little hiking along the bay shore... Sometimes I ride my bike over and sit at the pier watching the boats come and go... Very peaceful! I do the yearlong State Park Pass...
