Description: The Original Ghosts of Williamsburg Candlelight Tour, based on the...
The Original Ghosts of Williamsburg Candlelight Tour, based on the research and writings of acclaimed author L. B. Taylor, Jr., is the oldest ghost tour in Williamsburg and second oldest in the USA. Taylor’s first book, The Ghosts of Williamsburg and Nearby Environs, led to a series of books documenting hauntings and paranormal activities in Williamsburg, the Virginia Commonwealth, and Mid-Atlantic region. The only tour company licensed to use L.B. Taylor’s stories, we include true stories told on the campus of the College of William and Mary. Our skilled story tellers weave nearly a dozen exclusive and authentic tales into a comfortable stroll through the dark streets. The stories are spooky, but not too scary for children. In 2012 we launched a late night, adults only tour. Our widely popular Extreme Ghost Tour is dark, edgy, and intense. Experience this late evening walk...if you dare. Our groups are kept small in order to enhance the storytelling and overall experience, with time provided for guests to take pictures. Join us and be a part of what so many satisfied guests from around the country and around the world have experienced over the last twenty-five years.

Our son loved this tour. It was just right for a family night of fun...not too scary but interesting and they catered to the younger and older in our groups!

Thank you for sharing your enjoyment of our Original Ghost Tour, designed for all ages! This family friendly tour is over thirty years old, the second oldest in the country. Although we have added stories and updated it over the years, our tour remains unique... true stories, well told by story tellers who enjoy what they do. We are thrilled... More

Sorry but we went on the Extreme Tour and we are still trying to figure out what was extreme about it other than the fact that we paid more. The tour gave good historical information about Colonial Williamsburg, but I feel it was false advertising to say that it was an Extreme Ghost Tour when really it was only a... More

We know that not everyone will give us a five star rating. We accept that, and value guest feedback, an essential component in a successful business. Only a small percentage of our guests will take the time to join TA, write a review, and submit it. Many return to enjoy the Extreme Tour and bring friends, yet they never write... More

We took the Extreme Ghost Tour on Friday, April 24, 2015. There were fewer people roaming the streets that time of evening and it definitely enhanced the experience. Carter was an excellent guide and story teller and it is clear he enjoys what he does. Several people have complained that the tour was more history than ghost story, but I... More

Thank you for your thoughtful review, especially noting that “history produces the best stories”! Historical context is necessary for tours to make sense! Ghost stories are more enjoyable when experienced with a group and told by a skilled story teller. Jim Carter has been a guide for decades and loves to entertain. We are proud to continue the telling of... More

We took the Extreme Ghost Tour held on Saturday nights at 10:00 pm. Not sure why the "Extreme" is added to the name, other than it is extremely late and long. The tour was less about ghosts and more about history, which was disappointing. It took two hours, and moved too slowly making it hard on your legs and feet.... More

Thank you for writing. Customer feedback is welcome and necessary in order to provide all guests with the experience they and we expect. Our tours include only enough history to provide necessary context. After all, it is all about the ghosts! Our guides should maintain the creepy atmosphere throughout, especially on the Extreme Tour. We will observe our Extreme Tour... More

A couple of friends and I went on the original tour and we had the best guide, Eileen. Not only was she extremely engaging and a fantastic story teller she was beyond kind. The tour was very interactive and allowed us to participate in the ghostly history. The stories very well contextualized the beautiful, starry landscape that was a wonderful... More

We literally tour thousands of guests each year, yet few take the time to share their experiences. Thank you for your eloquent review. Eileen is a seasoned guide who genuinely enjoys people and ghost tours. The combination of top notch storytelling and the historic surroundings apparently provided a wonderful evening for you and your group. We could not be happier.... More

I was on an extreme tour led by Clare and our group had a wonderful time! Clare was very informative of both the history surrounding the locations as well as the reported hauntings. I have read some other reviews about tour guides not showing up, but Clare was exactly on time and our tour ended up being a little over... More

We love getting feedback like this. Thank you. Clare has been with us for many years, and is very passionate about her work. Because we have a core of high-quality seasoned guides and are the only tour company in the world with the rights to the research of L.B. Taylor, we can deliver a tour experience like no one else.... My boyfriend and I were on the tour Monday 3/9/15 and it was great. Claire was our tour guide. She was friendly, informative, and fun. We are both skepticals on the whole ghost thing. However this was great fun and would recommend it to everyone.

My boyfriend and I drove a few hours up to Williamsburg for valentines day. We bought 2 tickets for the extreme ghost tour online a few weeks beforehand for the 10pm tour. We are very sorry that this happened. If a tour is canceled, those who have reservations are called. Since the General Store had closed, we were unable to contact those who had purchased tickets there. A guide is always at the tour site when we must cancel a tour, but a tree had fallen, blocking traffic. We reached all with... More

Tour was okay. Guide very good, but more about history then ghost. I like history, but purchased ticket for a different experience. Don't purchase this time of year if cold weather is not your thing or if you have a difficult time walking. Interesting and would recommend if you want a good tour with some interesting history. Didn't see any... More

Thank you for choosing and recommending one of our ghost tours and indicating that you plan to come back again. “Interesting history” into which our true stories are woven is necessary to provide context, and helps to explain the presence of spirits. While actual ghost sightings are extremely rare, strange but unseen events are often caught by cameras. There are... More
