I probably wouldn't make a special trip to go extremely far out of the way to see this, but if you're in the area it's definitely worth seeing. Our tour guide was very informative and it's was only our family on the tour which was nice. Children are welcome, but aren't aloud to touch any of the furniture in the... More

Adam Thoroughgood House is one of three historic homes that you can purchase a ticket for and do all three homes. Worth it to see all three. We started at this home first since it was the furthest and worked our way back to the VA beach area. It is nesteled way back in a residential area and with out... More

I bought the three home combination ticket for $14.00 (senior price)at this home. It was not a lengthy tour but in combination with tours of the other two historic homes nearby you can spend a good part of the day learning about early settlement of the area. The docent was knowledgeable and fielded my questions without a problem. Much to... More

As the guide told me, the Adam Thoroughgood House was built not by Adam but by his great-grandson. Located in the Thoroughgood section of Virginia Beach, the house is a handsome example of colonial architecture. Entry is always with a guide. Elizabeth gave me an excellent one-hour tour of the home, the grounds, and the history of the house and... More

Had a great tour by Erin through the home and learned it's history. Many architectural details shared and how they determined things about the place. Worth the money.

great informative guide - very enthusiastic. I learned much more about the area than I'd learned in my history lessons. Like - what a courting candle was. Who'd have known. Not far off the beaten path and a combo ticket of $16 gets you admission into 3 houses. takes about 45 minutes a house and they're not too far apart... More

Recently six of us took a tour of the house and gardens. The tour guide was excellent and talked to us for two hours about the history of the Thoroughood house and the family, the house itself, the gardens, the furniture (unfortunately none from the family) and decorations. A great way to spend some time and the office and home... More

The tour is part of 3 historic homes to visit for the ticket price. We enjoyed our tour guide, he provided some interesting facts (like a paw print in the brick chimney). The tour was just of the first floor of the home and lasted about 30 minutes.

All I can say is if you go, ask for Angela to do your tour. She is a great tour guide. Very animated and you can tell she loves leading tours. Very interesting history behind the building of house. Take advantage of the home tour package. You can see 3 houses in the area and you don't have to go... More

An old house, well tended to and in a very nice, old neighborhood. Worth a Saturday trip to see if you like Virginia history. Didn't cost a thing.
