The day we were in Virginia Beach it was nearly 100 degrees, so we looked for ways to stay out of the heat and stumbled across MOCA. We ended up quite happy we had found it; the displays were really cool (including a set of seven vases representing the seven virtues and seven deadly sins by one artist and a... More

My sister and husband had their wedding at MOCA last week. It was absolutely gorgeous!! Didn't get to walk around the museum, though.

This is the second year we tried to get in but could not. We tried last year at the same time of year, but were not told last year that basically they close down every year for the month of May to change over the displays. We did get to see the signature blown glass chandelier and there were a... More

Lots of different exhibits here throughout the year and they have day, weekend, or weekly classes for everyone from age 4 and up! My daughter likes coming to the summer camp and we just made a day of it in the surf/skate exhibit three weeks ago. PLUS they have night activities for a couples night. Make sure to check out... The only permanent installation at MOCA is the grand Chihuly chandelier in the anteroom. Otherwise, this small but impressive venue holds travelling and juried exhibitions of contemporary art. You need to check their calendar regularly to see what the current offerings are. Right now there is a juried exhibit of about 20 contemporary artists chosen from over 600 entrants that... More

I don't care how often you go if you look closely you will always find something new to see. The exhibits change often and the space is so pretty it's a nice place to spend some time. The gift shop should not be missed it's an eclectic array of art and treasures you are going to want to take home... More

Interesting art - it is contemporary art, so some pieces you'll like and others, you'll scratch your head. There were a few stand-out pieces -- a huge thread sculpture that took up half the room and a very large handing glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly.
