Best beach to go to if you just wanna relax. So much less crowded that downtown Virginia Beach. A few restaurants and shops nearby so you don't have to go the whole way into town if you don't want to....but still only 25 minutes from the boardwalk!

Super nice place for relaxing and getting away from the crowds and bustle of the boardwalk, but a short distance away. Parks available for picnics & playgrounds.

Place to relax without traffic - businesses and the busy boardwalk in Virginia Beach. No restaurants/shops etc. In Sandbridge - just peace and quiet! Nice place.

If you want a more quite part of the beach to enjoy away from all of the tourists and noise, this place is perfect.

I have visited Sandbridge about every other year for the past 20 years and it has become our go to beach destination. I could easily go to NJ beaches which are much closer to my home but we have found the quiet beaches of Sandbridge much more enjoyable. There is plenty of room on the beach to spread out and... More

Stayed on Sandbridge Beach for a week with my family. It was a beautiful beach and not crowded at all (Labor Day Week). If you want to enjoy the ocean and beach without hundreds of people and huge hotels, this is the place. It takes about 20 minutes to get to VA Beach, but it's not a bad drive to... More

We went to Little Island Park at the south end of Sandbridge Beach for Sunday of Labor Day weekend. It was a great day for the beach, which would normally have produced enormous crowds in other places on a holiday weekend, but it was not overwhelmed with people at all. Plenty of room to set up on the beach and... More

Only about an additional 20 minutes away from the boardwalk, and way less crowded. Did I mention that its cleaner too? Once you go here, you will never swim at the boardwalk again.

I visited Sandbridge for the first time in early September. I have seen many US beaches and this one is in the top 5. The area is clean and not overly crowded. The water was comfortable and the surf was surprisingly active. The best part is that this place isn't commercialized in any way! A+ experience in my book.

Not crowded like the oceanfront. Plenty of parking, cheaper for VB residents. Fishing pier, surfing and swimming beach all there. Public restrooms and showers. Large playground and shaded picnic area.
